Without knowing anything about this league, I am going to throw a big guess and say that Plum Life has something to do with this.
If this is true, that's all the backing he/they will need.

Wouldn’t it make more sense for the D4 1st place prize to be $5k and the semi pro 1st place to be $20k? Maybe not those exact numbers but I feel like the prizes should increase with the higher divisions. Nearly identical prizes across all divisions will just promote sandbagging.

Haha, at least it wasn't just me that wasn't answered.
It looks like their first names are now off their website?

Interesting find. It looks like you're right.
I just heard they put flyers all over the cars here at World Cup.

Advertised their so-far vaporware league at what would be their competition's event. Classy.

There is a FB photo of a Joseph Barren with the Noobies… so I would guess yes.
Seems to be affiliated with Prestige Paintballs
Elvin could possibly be Elvin Colon. Manager of New Jersey bomb squad. The area codes line up.

They have an event up... so they made it farther than that other league that was supposed to come about the Markowski was hyping.

I believe they already switched venues for their event. It's now happening at Top Gun.
Here are the people involved. It looks like you guys were getting them correct.
Joseph Barren
Miles Carter
Rob Jachetti
Anthony Bastian
Martin Mascio
Elvin Colon

looks like a couple of teams have paid the entrance fee...
I know some people have asked the guys running it for more details before committing the NXL level money to play, but got a lot of "just trust us" type responses.
Not trying to bash, but transparency is key if you're going to get people to commit when the prices are the same as NXL. Despite the complaints of NXL, people at least know what they're gonna get when they pay and play.

Lets just be 100% real here. All those guys are late 20s early 30s working pretty normal jobs and don't really have "I can lose money for a year" type money to run a paintball league of this scale. They refuse to give any sort of financial guarantee that any of the prizes can be actually paid and they are seemingly using the model of "lose money but pay from the paint tab" as their model, which will assuredly not be successful.
Time will tell, but unless these guys have a legitimate investor that said he was cool with bleeding financially for at least a year on this league, I dont think it will work

How many new leagues have started in the last 20 years with the hype of "for the player"...
Not sure how they expect teams to support them when they were hiding who they were when they launched the league? Does anyone have any info on this group? Have they ran a successful local tournament series? Do they have things like a functioning website, rule book? I wish these guys the best and I want more competition but I feel like they need to do something more to differentiate themselves from the NXL. Maybe change in format, # of players on a team or limited paint? These may be crap ideas, but what reason would a team that makes a Sunday once or twice a year make the switch?

Answer to all is no.
They have not run a league of their own. Their first step into tournament promoting is on a national level without major financial backing

There have been so many new leagues to start up competing with the existing ones. They all have the same general goals, cheaper paintballs, cheaper entries, better formats, better locations, and more prizes. Its like all paintballers have ADD, once they play in a league for a couple seasons everyone complains about this or that. Before you know it another league is popping up that claims to solve all the problems everyone had with the existing ones. Once those new leagues have been around for a couple seasons then they will become the target of complaints only to be replaced by the next batch of paintball leagues. Is competition good? Yea definitely but if you are just rehashing the same goals the original leagues set out to do then guess what you will become the target after a few seasons and someone will just make a new league to take you out. Not a lot of teams can afford to play in multiple leagues so most teams will just pick one. It's just a never ending cycle. Doing something the same way and expecting a different outcome is by definition of crazy. I think if we as a community all got behind a league instead of expending additional resources and players to new leagues every time we don't like something, potentially we could have a more sustainable league. I don't believe the paintball player numbers are there to sustain several national paintball leagues let alone all the regional leagues in existence.

I just looked and 6 teams are paid for their first event, but 46 have signed up.
Does anyone have a rundown on the rule changes? I know the venue changed. I am just not sure about what other rules are different from NXL.

I am told they are canceling the event.
They had 6 teams paid and 45 signed up, but they were already past their second registration deadline and into late registration.
Obviously, the Coronavirus is also weighing into everyone's event decisions.

Our team, like alot of others, registered, but were very hesitant to pay for the entry due to the weird closed off attitude they had for so long and never actually being able to prove any of this was feasible

what a PR success! Now they can blame the virus for cancelling an event that was never going to happen
