While browsing the Rare markers BST I picked up this piece of paintball history. A 1 of 15 Dust Red to Black Ground Zero Intimidator bone stock.
Equip with S.O.B board, classic metal timmy bolt and Long shot barrel.
What makes this one special?
Well, most of us have seen the GZ Timmy before. Its was the hotness back in 2002 and I can remember they first retailed early that year in 45 frame dust gray or blue. But this GZ is one of the very first Gen 2's to ever roll off the production line.
The Red to black dust was strickly produced by Bob Long for Pro team Ground Zero. They made a total of 15 team GZ's. (per Terry59 Master tech for Bob Long)They did make a public version polished red to black but that came long after the dust originals.
There are 2 other rare team owned GZ's. A Gloss black and a Gloss Gold to black in addition to the 15 Red to Black guns.
Sadly, the team guns have evaporated into the paintball community. Some
2k2'ed others 2K4'ed. Some were stripped and re-annoed and the rest....who knows.
I spent a few minutes on the phone with Zack Long and he mentioned that the Lunquist brothers have a few rare annoed GZ's. (White to Light blue to dark blue Dust). Its a gift to find a stock team owned GZ and it's going to stay that way. The 2 gold GZ jewels above the grip are also a rare find. Will Arroyo spoke with me on FB about the GZ silver player (Steve Rodriguez) that made them.
So, there you have it. A nice spot light for a great gun and a great team that some of us followed back in the day.
I think you missed the picture of the grip frame with the ground zero jewel above the grips.
That is one sick GZ though! i remember my best friend bought one back in 2004 and i always loved the way it felt. thanks for the ground zero history lesson as well.

The GZ on the 45 frame is a sticker.
The GZ that's milled into the marker is actually in front of the feedneck, ontop of the barrel threads. That's how you can tell the difference between a GZ and a Z timmy. The Z timmy has the same milling but lacks the GZ milled badge in the front.

Yup, the gz has the milled "gz" and the z does not. The gz's have a 45 frame and the z has the space frame.
Nice find. I owned the Gold to black fade: Was originally made for Chris Cole and I was the first he resold to.
The all black GZ were made for a few of the guys. I know of 2 that GZ def had, A friend currently owns one. Will get a pic next time I am over in the area
As for the guns that the Lundquvist brothers had I thought i remember them having the clamshell grip on theirs
The Jewels were made for the GZ team by a member of GZ silver, Stephen R who is an awesome guy. he made stickers and Jewels for the team.
