Planet Eclipse ST3 Soft Tip bolts now available for EMEK, Gtek, M170r and 170r

Planet Eclipse has finally released a soft tip bolt that fits ALL their Gamma Core markers!

Buy it now: https://paintballretro.com/products/...-and-gmek-gtek

Planet Eclipse flagship marker, the CS2, already comes with a ST3 soft tip bolt that most CS2 players run in their guns. Now, you can finally own one of these legendary bolts for any Planet Eclipse Gamma Core marker without buying a CS2 (or prying it loose from a CS2 owner). It even comes with a spare soft tip cushion.

This same bolt will work in the EMEK, GTEK, M170r, 170r, Etha 2, EMF 100 or of course the CS2 itself. However, it was previously only available with a CS2.

The ST3 bolt is an excellent drop-in upgrade for all Gamma Core markers or even as a replacement bolt for the CS2 Pro and CS2.

I can hand deliver these at the ICPL event this weekend at Badlandz if anyone needs one. It looks like it will be cold so anything to help break less paint might be needed.

Just choose the "pickup" option.

I figured this would happen eventually ... they also released the new soft tip bolt for IV cores as well.

Trying to figure out if it makes sense to get an upgraded bolt for a gun I haven't even shot yet.

Oh, who am I kidding...

I've been using one as well, but I was stealing it out of my CS2 and swapping it back and forth. Now I have one in my M170r and my EMEK too without having to risk pulling my CS2 and not having it.

my consistency got better but I only did a small test. Didn't adjust velocity, just grabbed a chrono.

10 shots with stock 10 shots with soft tip.

316-326 (grabbed old paint and didn't size my bore).

put the new bolt in

306 306 304 305 306. very tight grouping but the velocity decreased quite a bit.

In my case I'll be losing efficiency but for whatever reason my consistency improved. The bolt sail o-ring felt like a tighter fit to the can, maybe my stock one is just worn out.

My area has random one-off mech events in the early winter and early spring so anything to help the paint work well in the cold is worthwhile.

If you're playing icc and using it randomly at big games you don't really have a use for it. You're either shooting rec paint at a big game or playing in warm weather at icc.

Probably not. The stock bolt is pretty great at handling paint too. This is just slightly more gentle if the shell on your paint is super fragile or it is real cold out.

Awesome idea for PE to get these to the market. Serves a lot of good for performance on their lower end markers which will help the average player more

Not totally surprising results. The shoulder of the tip inside the bolt ID impedes flow, while the Venturi-style bolt provides a seamless flow path. I've compared them as well but did not see such a radical velocity difference.

Seems like this is in response to Super Staunchy Customs.

With this upgrade it brings their low and mid end markers closer to their flagship CS2.

As someone who has owned the Emek, 170R, and CS2 it's difficult to distinguish between all three other than ergonomics. Wish PE would do exclusive CS2 annos or milling to justify the difference.

I'd gladly pay retail value (or more) again if it meant a little more flair to the price tag.

We're going a little off topic with this, but they absolutely do have that going on. Both, really. There's the CS2 Invader, CS2 Pro, Infamous CS2, assorted special anodize editions, etc.

How is this new soft tip bolt better than the soft tip bolt that comes with the IV core?

The older style soft tip of the IV core soft tip bolt was prone to swelling and thus causing cycling issues due to excess drag with the breach. Now that the soft tip is internal, the chance to encounter that drag is non existent. This will allow you to use a soft tip when you need to without the potential issues from the original.

Dude, thank you for explaining that!!!!!!!
I've actually had that exact issue several times not realizing what was happening. I noticed my IV core soft tip bolt was not reliable and my gun would cycle weird sometimes... now I know why! So I either need to stick to my hard tip bolt or switch to this version of soft tip. Planet Eclipse should consider putting that in their AD, I get they probably don't want to put focus on their bad design of the original, but it would help them restore the faith of people like me believing again that their markers are reliable.

You’re welcome. I wouldn’t say it was a bad design, it was only an issue in some weather and environments. If it happened, just swap out the soft tip and normally you would be back up and running. This new soft tip is all inside the bolt diameter, so it eliminates that as a potential problem.

I shoot some really fragile paint at times so, I plan on picking up a few of each for my M170s and my GSLs/3.5s.

This got me thinking:

PE offered soft tip cs2 bolts for sale on their parts page but took them off the market once they realized people were buying them to upgrade their 170rs. I wonder if they decided to sell these now to help move more 170s because something new is on the horizon.
