MacDev Prime XTS paintball marker - Shooting Video

I actually shot this video back in early March and had some technical difficulties. I was able to salvage most of the footage and then I went back and got some more quick shooting footage to add at the end so you guys got to see the MacDev Prime XTS shooting.

I find the Prime platform to be one of those "love it or hate it" kind of things. A few people I know can't get enough of it and feel like it's the perfect marker for them. I fall on the hate side of that spectrum unfortunately. I want to like it, and I really appreciate another company producing a high end marker. But maaaaaaan, the last time I tried one of these I couldn't put it down fast enough.

The vid itself is very well shot as usual, thanks John for putting these out.

Looking forward to whatever the next MacDev offering is!

You said this when the original Prime released. The XTS foregrip is completely different (and a huge upgrade over the standard Prime foregrip). The new rear grip material is also much nicer.

Have you handled an XTS yet?

John, nice video man. I was wondering if this was ever going to release. I've been really enjoying my XTS. It's been splitting time with several markers, including my CS2 Pro, Geo 4 and M3+. It holds its own in that group.

Prime XTS looks like a great marker. However, you said, "I consider the Prime to be the best shooting gun they have ever made."...would be based on loaner experience and talking to other people?

Yes I've tried the XTS and I will admit the foregrip/grip change is certainly welcome. That being said I just don't like the shot, and the ergos are just not what I like. Objectively speaking there is nothing *wrong* with the XTS, just not what I like. As Austin Powers once said "That ain't my bag, baby", though he might have been talking about some Swedish thing...

I'm still going to praise MacDev for responding to feedback and making changes to the things people didn't like about the Prime, and for quality craftsmanship on the XTS.

I've shot them many times over the years. I even borrowed one from Kai once for a few months when he worked with them. Clones, Droids, Cyborgs even one of the original Primes. I think MacDev has continually improved their offering and this is the best gun of theirs I have ever used.

As soon as the Canadian dollar smartens up I’ll be ordering my gloss red xts. Just got a new clone 5 infinity in for a guy at the field and for the price it’s a hell of a bargain.

I rock the gloss black as well, John. Hard to choose sometimes between the dust and gloss depending on the lines and milling. Gunfightersports.com has that beautiful gloss emerald XTS btw.

Thatís how I feel about spool valve guns in general. Iíve owned them and shot them and theyíre fine but I just prefer the way a poppet valve shoots. I realize Iím certainly the minority with that opinion since there is only one left on the market.

The Torque is not a poppet and the G6R was discontinued.

All true. I suspect we will eventually see a stacked tube poppet from Field One. A next gen timmy.

Like I said there's only one left. I'm going to order a LV1.6 this fall I think. It'll probably be the last really nice new marker I buy since I mostly play with an autococker these days and occasionally I'll steal my kids emek for a couple games.

If they do get one out in the not too distant future I may have to rethink the LV as my one nice gun. 20ish years ago I was all about the intimidator and regret selling every one of them when I took my break from playing after my kids were born.

Is the machining for these guns done in Australia, or somewhere else?

Does the Prime shoot as smooth as the GTI? I bought the Clone 5 when it first came out and was not a fan of how it shot. Still have my Clone V2 and love it.

I shot one last weekend. Definitely has a poppy shot and sounds louder than my cs2/geo 4. not really my cup of tea

I disagree. It seems the majority of the current LV love is coming from the younger tournament crowd that never shot them prior to the fallout of stacked tubes. F1 is struggling to even get Forces sold to anything more than a minority of the tournament crowd right now, I don't see them taking on the costs of another gun when their current marker isn't even totally off the ground yet.

What's their dealer network look like? Granted I don't live in a paintball hotspot I've never actually seen a Force in person. It seems like they have a lot of great features and seem pretty well bullet proof as far as reliability goes. I really like some of the custom anodizing options they have too. My local field is having a clinic with Marcelo and Tyler next month I might have to go out and check one out in person. Maybe it'll change my mind on a poppet vs a spool.
