How is your paint these days?

Just curious how people feel about the paint they are using?

Please post

-where you are on the planet.
-what brand, item, shell colors, fill color.
-what size it was.

wpn toxic metallic gold shell with yellow fill 681ish has been really good

WPN elixir metallic pink with pink fill 683ish has been amazing

Gi 2* green/white shell with white fill 679ish has been not good.

Gi field lightish blue shell white fill is square and not worth using

- Pro Shar Paint, different collor fill/shell

Seems to be the new local supplier of all fields here. Paint is not bad but horribly small around ~.678 (actually sometimes rolling trough my .678 back.)

I usually play the red menace which are slightly less brittle then the tournament paint. Shell is gold/red, fill is yellow or bright green.

GI/Empire Custom Blend Multi-Grade.

This last shipment in the past few weeks has been all ****.

Every case has leaking or broken paint. The paint is also boring a little bit larger - probably because of that.

Paint that usually bores around .684 is boring around .688 with the occasional huge one that will even match a .692!

Lots of people have been having problems with breaking the paint in everything.

Thankfully I have mainly only had it break in my Pods.

What’s going on GI?

GI custom 2 tone at my home field.
Usually in the low .68s, reasonably consistent. Every now and then I'll get the odd wonky ball but it's nothing to really complain about. Solid practice paint.

There's also one field that gets some weird small brand paint. Bore size is out of control, balls got lumps like Lance Armstrong, just ****ing awful. Pretty sure the paint is from North Korea...

Empire Custom Blend - 2 tone shell, bright orange fill. Tends to come in about .685-.689, fairly consistent shell / shape, sizing can vary per case, meaning I'm upsizing my bore most of the time. Fill is bright and thick (the good thick). Shell color varies a bit depending on the order; not sure if that is Empire or the field changing the shell.

GI 5-star - 2-tone purple shell (logo on one side, solid opposite.) Sizing is a little smaller than the Empire, but was about .685 the last time I used it. Shape is consistent. Yellow fill, a little thin (IMO) but not bad. I personally don't like yellow fills, so I'm biased.

HK Tournament - purple shell. The last few cases I've had were small - I think I used a .682 last week. Brittle shell, I did have one or two breaks in my pod, but that was paint in the pod from the previous week. Super oily shells. Yellow fill, also a little thin (IMO.)

Been pretty much shooting just GI 2 star and some 3 star. Didn't see a big difference between the two. Not too oily, mostly pretty round, not very brittle, but flies mostly straight. It gets humid here, and the paint will swell and sweat a bit. I use an HK bore sizer, but it's hard to get an accurate reading when the balls aren't perfectly round, despite not being dimpled. If I had to choose two barrel bores, I'd do a .685 for mornings/cooler days and a .688 or something similar for afternoons/hotter days.

WPN toxic metallic red shell with white’ish pink fill. 682ish. It’s decent but the metallic yellow shelled ball is better

GI Custom and 4 Star at events at X-Factor Paintball

Silver/Purple Shell yellow fill and a Metallic Blue Shell Orange Fill (tournament fill)

I run a .693 Bore, but most of it seems to be a .687

Shoots well, no issues, never had breaking problems or oil in bags, could be because it is the home of X-Factor and they run through so much paint every weekend with the local and sponsored teams.

Another Field in Texas

APX now CPX? paint, runs about .687 maybe smaller, really week yellow fill, definitely not a fan but overall it's uniform, breaks well and shoots straight.

Just tested out new rental paint at the field yesterday

GI field solid bright yellow shell but dimpled white fill, .683ish breaks ok but the fill sucks at marking, almost seems like the fill bounces off what it hits.

WPN killa bees solid pink shell yellow fill .685ish decently round, marks good shoots good through bt’s and 98’s

Waiting on samples from APX and Pro-Shar, hopefully they’ll be here by the weekend.

GI 2star, used at event 3 weeks back. Pretty decent actually, flew good.
Size around .687 (larger than the locally made paint @ ~.684)
1 break in a bag, obviously not a great find but have had worse from imported paint. Fill was on par with local so just ok, shell cannot now remember if it was green or redish in color.
Price was good ZAR410 (~us$28)

Finally back to normal.

The field manager actually took pictures of our Pods full of broken paint and sent them to GI Sportz lol.

Thanks GI!

Shot some Valken graffiti this weekend at a 3v3 dark blueish shell with almost tan/brown stripes on both sides .684 sizing, green or blue fill was really nice. small dimples were kinda common so there was random stay balls. Was harder than I was expecting.

Valken new world dark blue half then a dark blue with tan/brown stripes on the other half. Yellow fill. .684 ish shot and broke the same as the graffiti. No dimples through

Today it was cold for SoFlo and the field paint was 10/15 breaking from under 3’ high.

I didn’t have any chops but did have a few barrel breaks.

Same paint as above.

I was shooting my PAL Etha 2 with my TFX 2.

A lot of other people had problems too so I guess it was just too cold out lol...

Got our samples of Pro-Shar exact and skirmish in

Exact. Moss green shell with yellow fill. Sized .684 ish. This is the best rental grade paint I’ve seen in a long while. In a bt or 98 or enemy it’s really really good. Doesn’t taste that bad either.

Skirmish two tone green green, yellow fill. 685 ish. Another great shooting ball. Perfect rec/practice paint. Really decent fill for the price.

Also

WPN cloud break, dark purple shell, yellow fill. .682 ish shoots and breaks good in the cold but smells like dead pet.

Bear in mind this is southern California:

GI 4 star: trash for a high-end ball. Significant number of dimpled balls which curved. Also ran small.

HK Army Tournament: slightly dimpled but didn't noticeably affect performance. Got a solid number of breaks despite being a winter formula. Ball ran somewhat small (~.685) but I'll be shooting this all winter.

I play pump pretty often so I'm happy when we have good paint here in the California Bay area.

4 star had been hit and miss all year. The pink shell/yellow fill has seemed to be the best, boring at 684. The green with yellow fill hasn't been great, with some batches coming dimpled and others being too brittle for use. All the above made big bright hits though.

Defy level 3 purple shell/green fill has been good at delivering consistently round paint, but sizing isn't quite are consistent as good 4 star. Never brittle, but generally bouncy unless you're hitting gun/googles. The fill is thin so hits aren't immediately obvious.

Graffiti this year has been consistent. Yellow striped shell orange fill. Comparable to defy except with more consistent bore.

I miss the Celtic we were able to get until a couple years ago. Big bore and big bright hits.
