Metallica is the most overrated "metal" band to ever exist

Change my mind.

Like seriously. Kill 'em All is the only album I can listen to from beginning to end. I don't want to hear some stupid *** song about the boogie man and being scared to go to sleep at night. What is this, nursery rhymes for beer bellied *******s who want to get freaky in the pit? **** out of here.

They suffer from the Van Halen effect: where the guitarist is by far the most talented member

Kirk Hammet is extremely talented, and their guitar riffs are fantastic. Everything/everyone else is mediocre at best

Anything that is any good Hammet did not write. He's talented but Satriani ruined him. Hetfield and Lars carry most of the water.

Burton's influence on them has been sorely missed. Now they are sober and rich. Although Hardwired was a good album, thrash it was not.

They are also still probably the best live band you will ever see.

I just don't get it man. I've never seen them live, so maybe I'd change my mind once doing so. But it's like every time I hear a Metallica song, I quickly turn that **** off. and besides Kill 'em All, St. Anger was their only other good album.

I just went there.

In my opinion you saying St. Anger was their only other good album immediately makes me think you're just trolling.

I know I'm not the only one that thinks St. Anger is easily their weakest offering. As a long time fan of the band I enjoy pretty much all of it, but St. Anger is definitely my least favorite. Death Magnetic and Hardwired... are steps in the right direction back to their hey day. But for me personally nothing beats Master of Puppets or And justice for all.

I ran into the same problem with Metallica as I did with Tool, NIN, and some obscure industrial bands... You can only listen to the old **** for so long before you just move on, and when your old favorites pop up on the radio or your playlist, it's just 'meh'... you've heard it hundreds of times. IMO NIN trailed off over a decade ago, and Metallica trailed off much longer ago than that.... When all you like are the old albums from early 2000s, or 90s, or even 80s... the well runs dry eventually.

This.
This post feels 100% troll

St. Anger was hands down their weakest album, and while Kill 'em all is Great I can listen to most of their albums up to Black all the way through, and even enjoy a decent amount of Load/reload, and really love Death Magnetic and Hardwired.

Bands sounds evolve and some fans lose interest and the band builds new fans.

Metallica is one of my favorite live shows I've seen.

As with anything the appeal and excitement and even enjoyment of things does eventually change or fade.

This is a forum. This is a website intended for people to discuss various topics. This specific sub forum is for music, which we are discussing Metallica. If you don't want to discuss things on a forum, go play Backgammon with your Granny Cynthia and piss off with your millenial 'who cares about anything' attitude.

So many lols. I am glad that other people have decent sensibilities enough to acknowledge the metallica's music is a heap of trash. If there is anything tolerable from them it's "one" from the "and justice for all" album.

How dare you put them into the same sentence! Danny Carey is better in every way than this clown:

I'm not a concert guy but they are a fantastic live band. I've been to more of their shows than anyone.

I agree and also I feel like the majority of their albums pull from other albums they already put out

In 2010-2012 I quit paintball to travel & go to music festivals, concerts, or any parties with live music, my point being music was my life. I’ve seen hundreds & hundreds of concerts, and while I’m not a dedicated metal fan, I can wholeheartedly say that Metallica put on THE BEST live set I have EVER seen. Nothing else comes close, & I’ve seen loads of big name artists. I’m not qualified to debate whether Lars sucks at playing the drums or that Kirk doesn’t write his own stuff & all that jazz, but I’m telling you—something special happens when these guys take the stage.

Ride the lightning is arguably the greatest metal album of the 80’s. It crushes from start to finish (Trapped under ice is one of my all time favourite songs). Nothing wrong with Kill em all but it’s almost too raw
