Is it bad to dry fire a paintball marker?

Is it bad to dry fire a paintball marker with air? Or even without air?

The only time you should dry fire a marker is when you want to make sure it actually fires, but it's really different if you have a paintball in the breech. For example, you could lower the dwell, and it would sound fine without a paintball, but with a paintball, it wouldn't even go down the barrel.

Also, as a note for the future, use the search bar to see if this has been asked before. Older post will have the question you may have, already answered.

This question gets asked a lot. It's isn't necessarily horrible but it will be putting extra wear and tear on the gun and solenoid. Dry firing it a few times while figuring out board settings isn't going to kill your gun anytime soon. Now if your are clicking the solenoid a 1000 times a day while in front of the TV practicing your trigger finger, that is bad. Don't do that.
