Anyone ever seen an anodized macbook?
Not sure how many of you know this already, but both the macbook pro and the macbook air are made out of anodized aluminum. So, I just want to know if anyone's ever seen one get a custom anno? I know a couple people who own one and I've begged them to let me anodize them, but no one wants to shell out the hundreds of dollars it would take to get it disassembled by an apple tech .
edit - the more I research the more it seems like apple is making almost everything they can out of anodized aluminum these days.

My guess is they would be an amazing pain to take apart.

Could a Mac Book Pro be laser engraved without being disassembled? I would think so, but I'm not really familiar with the process.

yeah you can laser engrave a computer without it being disassembled, i've seen one being done in a video but you'd have to have the computer completely disassembled to ano it
like said it's going to be very expensive to have the computer disassembled unless you know someone personally that could do it for a more reasonable price

Yeah, one of the people I talked to who owns a macbook also knows a certified apple tech who would do it for cheap if not free, but he said that he would never do that to one of his friends. Apparently the biggest issue with taking them apart is keeping the LCD screen in tact.

There is a store here that does anodizing also, And I was hanging out in there one day and a guy from the computer store next door brought a mac labtop in wanting to have it anodized. They are about the same as an ipod, Fine wires, glue, tiny screws, and alot of time to take apart. I dont believe the guy ever managed to get it back together.

If you can find some one to take my mac book pro apart you can anodize it.
Edit- I actually just found this http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac/MacB...acement/115/5/ but i would never try to do that with my computer

I'm willing to be the gold on there is measured in the .0001s of an inch. Done over nickel plate which was put on top of zink plating. It's not going to dent easier, be heavy or anything stereotypical of gold.
