I just got back home from a long flight and to my suprise the wife told me what she got and is on her way back with it "2wd traxxas slash with a mamba max 7700kv motor and mamba max esc, 2 2s lipo batteries and the castle creations USB for the esc so you can tune the motor on a computer" never had any experience with electrics used to have a couple nitros a while back ago. Anyone able to tell me what were picking up is worth it. She only paid 40 dollars and it runs pretty quick she said.

Price is pretty fair.

Most trucks without electronics go for the $100 range.
$80 for a used Mamba Max ESC
$40-60 for a motor
$20-$40 for a used lipo
$15-$20 for the Castle link

The Slash is quite rugged and will be hard to break.

Electric has come a long way with the use of Brushless motors and Lipo batteries.

Much cleaner than nitro.

Castle mamba max 7700 the hobby guy wanted to buy for 100 so I'm assuming its decent

The Mamba Max Pro is the current version.
Little better than the non Pro but high end.

Castle and Tekin are considered the best.
Novak makes a good product as well.
Novak motors are highly regarded on the racing circuit.

The 7700kv motor is similar to a 5t or 7t motor.
That is a pretty fast motor.
Most poeple use a 17.5 or 13.5t motor for most racing classes.

This thing is very unstable when punched full throttle.

On 2s you shouldn't have too much of an issue. But the 7700kv will over heat if you gear it too high. You think its unstable right now, put a 3s in it with a 16-17t pinion. Its really fast, but will over heat after a while.

Im trying to get it right to race it at the local track but this thing at full speed is uncontrollable. It drains my venom racing battery in less than 5 mins with a full charge.
