thats not the issue you donk. we play one of the most expensive hobbies there is, rec players dropping 2k on a gun without thinking twice(i spent 900 on a cs2 i bought almost 3 months ago and used just once) its them clearly over-pricing something because they can.

Its wild too, because they arent even overly unique to attractive as a headband, and people are solely buying them because they know the secondary market might be good on them.

Not even sure what a donk is lol... They are asking the price they are asking, no different then Dye, Eclipse, or DLX asking a premium for their product when there are cheaper options. It's YOUR choice to buy it. As I said if you don't like the price or can't afford it oh well. We've all been there. It's the same in anything else. As far as you playing once with your CS2 what does that have to do with anything.. anyways good luck to these guys.

Also if you think paintball is expensive go play golf, hockey, or try shooting or triathlon training.. lots of stuff just as expensive or more than paintball.

I guess someone has got to find the ceiling for what pricing the market will bear... Might as well be Fraige and Ollie right?

I tend to buy stuff that excels in one of two categories. Innovation or value. The sweet spot is a product that hits both. You may have different criteria and that's fine. Hell, some people seem to consider this an investment product and while I may call that insane... Capitalism thanks you.

Just because someone won't buy these doesn't mean they can't.

I don't see the value in these headbands.

"Hormesis"
Hormesis is a characteristic of many biological processes, namely a biphasic response to exposure to increasing amounts of a substance or condition. Within the hormetic zone, there is generally a favorable biological response to low exposures to toxins and other stressors

Collectibles get collectible pricing.

Hand wash only means I would never play in these. I love the look, but as a headwrap it serves no purpose for me. If they release a hat with the same style I will pick on up in a heart beat. Build quality would then determine if the brand was worth future purchases.

I don't mind paying a smaller company a bit more for hand made items, but man these headbands look terrible.

The Chameleon version just looks like someone spilled coffee on their pattern... $85 for that mess when the denim looks like it was rejected at whatever factory and they were about to throw it out. Too much of the money spent on the packaging versus the actual headband in my opinion.

What I don't understand is why they bothered to sex up the lowly headband unless it was the cheapest product they could source with the highest amount of markup. It's a business model I guess.

They spent a lot of time on the packaging and story as if putting it on meant your ancestors would ride into battle with you. No one needs a fancy box to hold a sweaty headband. Ball it up and throw it in your gear bag. Done.

What's most interesting to me is all the effort to make those thing seem Uber special yet not a single word on what they did to make a headband worth the money they charge for it. What makes it so unique that it's actually worth the money? Not a word about it's construction. As far as I can tell, it's being sold on the product story alone coupled with pictures of their friends wearing it. You're paying off their website expenses, marketing expenses, design expenses, packaging expenses, the copy writing....

So, let me put my writer's cap on. If it were my product I would have provided useful product information, something like....

"Using a combination of Quick Dry and Duoskin fibres the "my headband" becomes an integral part of your paintball kit by drawing moisture away from your skin towards the fabric where it is then evaporated: it stays dry even as you perspire. The result is less in-mask humidity while you enjoy a pleasant cooling evaporative effect. In addition flat seams reduce pressure points that often result from prolonged usage with a mask. As a bonus the performant dual-action materials resist odor build up** while providing UV protection*. Finally, because we care, we've integrated anti microbial properties as a forward-thinking feature in this, the plague-age of human existence"

* Only the skin covered by the headband will enjoy uv protection
** Eventually it's gonna stink, paintball is a stinky sport, wash it once in a while
*** Tourniquet conversion kit available as an add-on during the checkout process.

Maybe I should launch my own company... 2 minutes browsing the internet coupled with a few decades of wearing various things around my head and a little imagination makes me as much of an expert on the topic as anybody... And if I do it, I won't waste your money and my time with fancy packaging and a useless product story. Nothing but facts and pure performance in a plastic bag.

And about things being sold out, that could also mean they didn't make any of them, or only made a few of each and not the amount claimed. It's all marketing gimmickry dudes, create the illusion!

rluna why so cynical? its two well-known pros making a collectors item. that part seems to be lost on you. but yeah, launch your own company - you could even offer custom ansgear colorways. i'd totally buy one, but only if the reviews about the duoskin fibres are positive.

Why do women buy purses that cost so much when you can get on at walmart that does the same thing. No one is telling you guys to buy them . Ollie is having these made in Bali by the people . He is providing you a one of a kind product also while employing the people of Bali . Rluna is just salty

Only because they are cheap to make there. The highest quality headbands are definitely still made and hand sewn in the USA. Idk why every person always says "overseas = junk" until some pro does it, then it is a "hand crafted collectors item"

Hahaha what even is this argument? Employing people in Bali out of the goodness of their own hearts? They make them there because it's cheaper there. The labour is cheaper and the materials are cheaper. I bet you the dirty rugs and carpets they made these headbands from were destined for the landfill before the duo scooped them up for free.

There's always a market for unique products. Pretty sure that what Etsy is entirely based on. People being people want to have what others don't. Call it uniqueness or whatever that's the reality in everything from cars to clothes. If they make money from it I say good for them having great entrepreneurship and marketing skills.

No one is telling you that you NEED this, its a niche market for people who buy Sandana etc. Some people like having custom made stuff, and products being offered by someone like Ollie & Alex, why wouldn't I support that??

They gave us a decade+ of entertainment, tips, stories. You don't get any of that from any other athlete in any other sport. Paintball is one of the few sports where you can actually connect with these guys and honestly if you can't rationalize $100 being worth it, not just for the product, but for supporting these guys, then you obviously aren't a true fan of this game. At least not in the context of it being a sport.

Go get a signed baseball from a MLB player and let me know what that runs you.

If they can sell at this price, then by definition they are not overpriced.

I wont be buying one (the new agey proverbs make me gag), but the idea is interesting from a marketing perspective. They're not selling headbands, they're selling an image and a philosophy. If you just see the headband, you're not the target market.
