Looks like a hypermotard 1100 may be in my near future.

I'd like to ride an 848 or 749. A twin sport bike sounds like it could be a lot of fun especially when most of what i do is city riding. Though I haven't ridden enough bikes in general. When the weather gets better I'll at least get a chance to swap to my friend's legend for a trip to see how that is but otherwise I've only been on 4 cylinder bikes or my friends old suzuki savage 750 which was... really weird to say the least.

FZ is in a box on the way to Europe.

If the movers break anything, they better be ready to catch these hands.

So after having the r6 for a little while now I'm finding it (mostly) more comfortable than my 93 katana I had. I don't find it trying to crush my nuts anywhere near as bad. Kind of assumed the worst considering the classification of each, katana being a "sport touring" and the r6 being a "super sport," but the riding position on the r6 feels a lot more natural somehow.

You have about 20 years of technology separating them.

Nearly 15 so yeah. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that the katana was supposed to be a nice middle ground and totally wasn't. back angle, seating position, bar height, everything seems wrong in comparison.

it could have just been simply the katana didn't fit your body well in general, my 86 interceptor was comfy as hell

Does anyone here run a sena? I usually ride with ear plugs in and am a little worried about not being able to do that since they use speakers instead of ear buds. I do have a cheap helmet so the wind noise is pretty bad. probably smarter to invest in a nicer, quieter helmet first, yeah?

Yes, a good quality helmet makes a world of difference. I have an SMH-10 which is honestly pretty old at this point. They've got 3-4 versions out after that one. The only complaint I have with mine is that the audio in one ear is flaky sometimes, but tapping the unit and cleaning the connection usually remedies it. But really for 5 years and about 20,000 miles of being stuck to a helmet going 70mph it's hard to be upset. Thing is absolutely awesome.

With ear plugs in I can hear my music just fine. It's at a level where I can zone it out when I need to really pay attention. It doesn't get loud enough to be distracting. I can't hear traffic but I really don't need to.

Any suggestions on helmets? I'm just looking for something comfortable and full face. I know they'll vary on head shape, etc. I won't lie, I've got a pretty big head... Some of the simpsons look nice, otherwise I like the full sport style, standard helmet but there's so many to choose from. I might end up at a track at some point, so are there any higher ratings tracks look for?

It's been a while since I've bought moto gear, mostly because I bought decent stuff a while ago and haven't needed to replace it, so just keep that in mind. Personally I'm an arai fanboy. They have two distinct internal shapes and the rounder one fits my fat head. It's super smooth out in the air on my triumph. Very little buffeting.

I'd be wary of Simpson only because they make more auto focused gear.

The new bell helmet line looks really nice for the price, especially with the autochromatic shield. Nexx makes a really nice helmet too.

Ultimately the best helmet is the one that fits you the best. Loud helmets can be made quieter with ear plugs and not everyone needs the most aero design.

No I'm definitely not looking for anything built strictly for aero. I have a longer face so that's a factor. My chin pokes out a little in ny current one.

Edit: somehow i misread or wasn't thinking. obviously little to no buffeting is better. I just know there are some race oriented helmets that won't be as comfortable for longer periods of riding.

If you have a cycle gear near you I would go and try on the selection they have. See what shapes fit your head the best. I'd start expensive and work your way down. See how you feel in a 600$ arai versus a 250$ helmet and figure out where/ what you want to compromise on. Don't forget that it should be a tight fit going on and wearing the helmet, as it will break in with some use over time.

Took a peek at the Italian Craigslist. Only found 1 Ducati, and it was a 1994 ****box.

The rumors are lies. Everyone here does not own one.
