Paintball Revolver?

Has anyone made a paintball revolver? Has anyone ever tried, with manual or pneumatic rotation? I'm guessing an advantage would be having a ball on demand every time you shot instead of feeding.

Yup... about 20 years ago...

Crosman 3357 Spotmarker:

I don't ever remember seeing a .68 though.. They're pretty collectable nowadays. The huge drawbacks are the loading and lack of power. Plus it's only 6 shots.

If you're going for cool factor it might be an interesting project. If looking to make something effecive I think stacking paintballs in a tube with a spring in it is still the best way to go.

The 3357 had a fairly complex trigger linkage. I've had to rebuild a couple, and its something I never want to do again.

It was a adaption of the old Crosman 357 pellet gun. In fact, there was a kit years, and years ago to convert a 357 to a 3357.

The problem was it was pretty much useless for paintball. The .50 ball had terrible ballistics, and it was very difficult to load.

If you really want to build one, for the novelty, I'd suggest starting with a 357. They are cheap enough, and you will have your linkage all ready to go. You just need to fabricate a cylider, and barrel, and bore out the valve to a higher FPS.

The AGA and Rapide were similar to the 3357, but used a magazine instead, so it was much easier to load.

wasn't the 3557 a stock class marker though? Meaning not semi auto?

Lets see (looking at my personal 3357) deffinatly double action revolver. In other words you can either just pull the trigger to bring the hammer back and rotate the cylinder (though the trigger pull that way is very heavy) and then fire, or thumb the hammer back to cock it and rotate the cylinder, with the now much lighter trigger pull just releasing the hammer.

Most stock class rules had special exceptions to allow the 3357, even though it wasn't pump and wasn't horizontal feed. They figured the .50 cal paint and only 6 shots per load were limiting enough.

Dukie on mcb is making a run of revolvers. It'll be a while before they're done, and they aren't cheap. Really tough to figure out timing and aligning one of these reliably.

homsar66 helped look for balloons
I'd disagree HP, i just finished putting one together out of a box of parts and it took me about half an hour with no prior knowledge of any revolvers. It rotates the cylinder and is single or double action perfectly. Now i just need to get a valve to put in and i'll be good to go. My plan is to increase the spring pressure on the hammer, then put a spyder valve in with the lightest spring i can find and fab a valve pin to get rid of the blowback, and route the pressure a new cylinder where i can (hopefully) shoot a 68 cal ball. Im hoping to find a pump tippman style valve that would work better, as that is the style of the stock valve, but truthfully i don't really know what i'm doing.

Dukie on mcb seem to be doing something jaw dropping over there, I'd have gone with that but the price is jaw dropping as well, as are any custom jobs. link->http://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/d...-revolver.html
