When to throw away old lenses? 4 Year Storage.. hot/cold

Hey,

i had to stop playing about 4 years ago and now i want to get back. I checked my stuff yesterday and i noticed that my lenses are still in the gearbag.

I have about 4-5 Grill lenses and 3 lenses for my Proflex.
All of them are brand new and were never used.

The gearbag was outside in my garage therefore exposed to winter and summer temperature. (~15 - 100F). No direct sunlight obviously.

Now iam wondering if the lenses could be damaged from this or if they are still safe to use... I want to be really sure. Alot of money and my eyes involved. I would hate to throw all of them out.

I checked the Grill manual to see what they say on how to properly store the mask.

- Protect lense against impacts and scratches
- store in cool, clean and dry place
- store far away from chemical products or fumes
- protect from high temperatures

Since it is plastic iam worried that it gets brittle after the hot/cold change.

Can anyone help with this or should i contact the manufacturer?

Thx

when in doubt throw them away, is not worth your eyeballs, you cant buy replacements yet. i know its excessive but i change them out at least every 1-2 seasons depends on how much ive played. There is no official answer to you question.

I know a guy who still rocks lenses that were made exclusively for NPPL Huntington Beach 2005 but I highly discourage this practice. I make it a point to change my lens regularly for safety but also because I hate scratches.

If you play every weekend then you should change out the old Mask Lenses at the end of every year, once a year is fine.

I’ve also heard that if you take a close impact to the Lens then replace it.

General rule of thumb is once a year.
