Getting back into the game

Hey guys,

I'm hoping to fire up my SLG this weekend after it has sat unused for many years. What sort of maintenance is required to get it back in working order? I assume replacing some rings and lubing the bolt? Do I need to do anything with the reg? If so, any good videos or resources to follow?

I’d go through the whole thing including the Regulator.

It’s possible that you might need to change the Orings or Piston/Seat too.

Here is a Hyper 2 rebuild video:

How did it go, OP? I aired mine up and it was a disaster. Dry fired it 3 times and then the dreaded solenoid clicking/not firing issue arose. Bolt will not move lmao.

I've tried a few different things - Relubed, all new orings, 3 new/different 9v batteries. Played with dwell settings, all settings back to stock, etc. Ugh. I might finish rebuilding the reg but ffs this is becoming a hassle; I'm already like 6 hours in and this isn't even a project gun.

I would love to hear how things turned out for you and if you got it working - let me know!

I just rebuilt a SLG for someone, gave the whole marker all new seals and reg seat. Stock board settings and she fired right up.

Got any advice for me? I replaced every oring on the gun and am running stock settings. Solenoid clicks but bolt doesn't move. Also I have like 11 shims in my 9v compartment bc they keep getting squished after installing (draining) new $2 batteries. RIP my wallet

btw here is my bolt tip, lol: https://imgur.com/a/jmmpzID

You can see the scratches on it and I have literally dry fired it less than 10 times; never shot a paintball through it. I also have a hell of a time removing the bolt (the back cap comes out easily though) so I'm assuming I have the issue where my breech/body needs to be "re-honed" or w/e. Could be sear issue?

Regardless, I am open to opinions/suggestions since Dye told me they won't service the gun and since I am not a machinist.

Those very slight marks I bet line up with your detents.

So you bolt doesn’t slide back and forth easily?

Thanks for the reply. The bolt slides just fine, except seems to be caught on the sear or caught on something inside the gun. Perhaps in the image the marks look slight but they are pretty srs irl.

To be clear: air is in the gun, eyes off, pull trigger, solenoid clicks, bolt doesn't move an inch?

I have tried 4 types of lube at this point, I have ensured air is getting to bolt by airing up marker with no bolt. I have rebuild the hyper 2 or 3 or w/e twice. If you google the issue you will see there are numerous users who have suffered a similar fate!

To be extra-clear I still buy and use Dye guns but I think this one was a dud, or at least mine is.

They fixed the issue with the 09 UL, I think they changed the bolts. the 08 had terrible bolt stick. Ive even seen people sand down the part that gets stuck.

Not entirely worth it imo.

Also, take the frame off of the body, there should be a small set screw next to the sear. if its screwed in all the way, back it out and put some loctite on it and then only screw it in enough to where its no longer protruding. Your bolt could be getting caught on that set screw.
