Viper paintball is hanging up their hat.

I know that most people on this site don't patriciate in scenario games, but Viper has been a HUGE factor in their success. A bittersweet day for paintball for sure.

Hats off to Viper. My first scenario was Twilight Zone, Army of Darkness in Cut/Shoot TX. I must have been 14 or 15 and had a blast! That event really got the gears turning in me for just how fun this sport can be.

I wish him the best in his Tiger King adventures. The more recent games I went to (pre covid) I always felt a little bad for Viper. It seemed like every other time I'd be coming/going by his HQ station he'd be in the middle of settling arguments between (sore) losers who lost their tempers on the field.

Better book my hotel room for Whatz-up now...

That’s not good news for PB, good news for a zoo though. All the best in the future.

Viper was an innovator for scenario play. I stress the past tense on this. Having played multiple Viper games over the past several years, I can pretty much say that if you've played one, you've played them all.

From year to year he didn't even change the mission schedule or order at the OG Tombstone and even his music playlist was the same. I don't even need to mention the hour plus pre-game briefing that can be repeated almost verbatim by a large swathe of players. Other promoters like Action Scenario Events and others have picked up the torch and are once again innovating.

I truly believe Viper belongs in the pantheon of paintball greats for longevity and helping make scenario play what it is. The line between tournament/rec/scenario play is blurring and that's a great thing. I have to give him some of the credit for that for sure.

However, the man checked out years ago and his games became stale. The players and field owners is what made it fun. I wish him luck in his next chapter and hope he actually gets to occasionally play again.

Viper put on my favorite scenario events around here and I especially loved the stuff at Whatz-up in Seven Points. Best of luck with the zoo.

My first scenario was a Viper event at Lonestar in San Antonio. Was super fun.

Thanks to Viper for the awesome Living Legends events he did. Those were the best ones. His efforts showed and those events I will always remember. Thank you!

Having a Zoo full of rescues is one thing, breeding exotic non native animals purely for your enjoyment is another.

glad he put on great scenarios, but people who keep and breed exotic animals for fun can go f themselves.

There are activists who claim that all exotic animals should be left in the wild. However, the truth is that habitat destruction and human encroachment impact exotic animal populations on a daily basis. Every second we lose an area of tropical rain-forest larger than two football fields. With that in mind controlled, professional breeding is the best chance that many exotic animals have for survival and preservation of their species.

As long as you can provide a suitable environment and proper care you can feel good about helping to care for one of nature’s fascinating creatures.

Food for thought.
