Best Event 2019: Iron City Classic, This event is honestly just unmatched. It has the biggest names across paintball's history, incredibly fun playing fields, and the best atmosphere of any event in the last 10-15 years since NPPL. Just hope they are able to fight and counter the phantom menace that is speed wars. Seems that people want to ruin the format again by racing to build the fastest gun again and don't really understand the core of the format.

Best Team Experience 2019: Aftershocks resurgence. Absolutely loved watching and playing against the historically stretched Shock lineup in the mechanical circuit. So many legendary players showing us young guys that all the athleticism, youth, and aggression can be beaten with pure grit and experience.
This just about sums it up 👍. +1 on nummech frames. Btw Joggers ftw, start playing, and stop judging other guys clothing.

I can't argue against that one. Over the last 20 year time frame, I don't know that I could point to any single person as being more influential, year after year, than Simon Stevens. There's tons of people playing paintball who aren't even aware of the effects he's had on the game, always in a positive way, the innovation he brings to anything he does, and the safety he builds into all his gear. As always, reasons I'm more than happy to run gear he's designed and built. Not to mention, just a genuinely good guy.

100%

Every guy I see complain about joggers seems to do so just because they cannot comfortably wear them because they are absolute units. In what world would there be a problem with a pant that has a third the weight and profile as traditional paintball pants with the same level of protection and durability? Joggers are one of the best thing for paintball in a long time compared to the older ridiculous clown sized pants that the industry supported for 20 years.

Best Product(s):

Carbon is really putting out some solid gear and jerseys this past season. Finally someone is making a quality jersey that has some new and different styling paired with the fact it wont rip in one event like a lot of other jersey out there. Also I received mine in a solid few weeks from order/ payment date unlike some companies that took 7 months to get me my product (I wish I was joking).

Luxe really impressed me with their new Luxe X this past season. I was hesitant at first because it was a very very new product so I expected to get some kinks in my first run order when I received it January of last year. This thing is a beast and doesn't stop impressing me. On top of it all they really listen to what the consumers is asking/ saying about the product and have been adjusting it accordingly.

Best Event: NXL .... yo sike get that **** out of here. ICC hands down was the best event of the season. I got to see a lot of friends from across the sport that live all over the world in once place. Yeah that may sound like an NXL event but the people there were actually happy and excited for the event and the weekend ahead of them. The focus was really on playing for the love of the sport and not just stressing over field conditions, layout variances, or guessing the quality of your refs on your field. I think my teams biggest concern was where all of our Bud Light was going to go.

Worst Trend: Sandana. Now I love me some of my Sandana products. But with the rebirth of the brand it really has taken a down turn that just makes me want to rock literally anything else. This company used to be cool because some of the stuff was rare but not by design. The OG stuff just wasn't printed or maybe just tested making for a small run of a certain print or color which makes it cool to find one now in 2020. But when a company purposely limits their product numbers just to make it "exclusive" so they can have their boys and community turn around to double or triple their original price in the aftermarket its just sad. This Supreme business mentality needs to stop. You're not Supreme, do your own thing. Worst part is the quality on the materials is no where near worth the $99 retail and something $350 (yall are funny) aftermarket prices (Not talking about the creation of them, Joey D does some great work). For all the kiddies out there trying to flex on your local field, take your $75-150 and look at the vintage aftermarket. Find something with some character rather than a certificate of "authentication" with a low "number" (some people call this a receipt). Last point. They literally puke their logo onto anything. Now I know HK does this but at-least HK clearly hires a designer to change up every shirt or design or whatever. Some of the Sandana gear looks like it was made in Microsoft word during some kids homeroom.

Joggers do not offer the same amount or level of protection.

Being skin tight will not allow for as much bounce as baggier pants, therefore any paintball impact would be harder.

Also, most of them don’t have reinforced areas like the knees on regular pants.

I also feel like there is less mobility with tight joggers.

Wear whatever you want though lol.

FYI. Back in the 90's I used to get Sandanas for less than 10 bucks and they sold in our store for less than 20.
You are going to blame a company because a bunch of label whores drove the prices up? That is absolutely hilarious.

I blame the company and the toxic resale market. No reason to limit how many of one style of headband you put out and then charge $89 for it. Smh

Wear whatever you want though lol.
They protect your skins and what not as well as normal pants do. Joggers or regular pb pants, neither really provide appropriate cushion for your knees when diving and still require some additional padding in either knee pads or similar products.

Also I would argue the bounce thing is a null point since you are also reducing the surface area that could be shot by about half, smaller target in joggers. Plus have you worn joggers? Just because they are tight doesn't mean they lack flexibility/mobility. There is a reason the vast majority of the pro field(best athletes in paintball) wears them now. They are a better built pant for the demands of paintball vs modified 80s dirt bike racing pants that were the standard for so long.

I wear pbracks, best of both worlds 🙂
Also, if bounce is a factor, dare I say you’re already g’d 🤣

+1 on carbon, absolutely love my pack

Nah.

Baggier definitely helps with getting bounces, especially from further distances.

I agree that neither really has enough padding built into them for sliding and diving.

Like I said. Wear what YOU want...

If you want to look like a girl in tights that’s on you lol.

Instead of wearing clown pants to get bounce shots, maybe get better and don’t get shot....

I think 2020 is going to be huge for mechanical. I already see fields now adjusting to hyberball again and it positively impacting the field. Most of the senior players at my home field all play mechanical or 5.5 and we have seen a significant increase of walk-ons in 2019 vs 2018. I think it's at point where we are going to see a steady growth of mechanical to where it's going to rival 5-man airball in a few years and players are going to have make choices in leagues and teams they are going to dedicate to.

zing!

Xfactor was a great story this year. Nice to see a team thats been together for so long get back to the top with just a slight roster adjustment. Picking up Raney was the biggest FA signing of the year. Made Xfactor look better than ever and Impact never quite looked right all year.

Also bringing JT back is great. Such a cool brand that a lot of people are nostalgic about. Was never sure why they gutted that brand years ago.

Best new gear- To me, PE killed it this year. The m170R and MG100 are both fantastic markers, and some of the only things that actually impressed me at PBE (thanks for making a real showing there, BTW...Most did not). The MG100 is just far superior to most magfed markers in terms of an engine that it's not even funny. Adreneline throwing their hats back in the custom ring was nice to see, and Freeflow had a really good year, with some great one-day sell offs, to releasing a handful of new marker millings.

Great year for Ano guys as well, with Arc and Blizzard just putting out some amazing work in general. Have been extremely impressed by both, and some of the markers that they have finished have been both extremely creative and technically impressive.

Best event- I play big games/scenarios, so no shock here, but Fulda. I do have to say ICC was also cool, even if I was just there showing customers and players my annihilation kits. Really cool vibe, and great venue to actually watch games. My wife doesn't give a rat's !@# about paintball, and still thought it was fun to watch a game or two from the side of the hill.

Worst trend- Ninja and their BS. All of it. From the lawsuits to the BS that is the 'new' HK regs. We've been through the frivolous patent wars before, and I feel no need to go back. The powerhouse regs are not remotely similar internally or externally, and yet they keep suing away. And then, just to cap it off, they use reg bodies identical to powerhouse's for the HK tanks in what sure as !@!# looks like an attempt to confuse buyers. They lost me as a customer for good this year.
