For anyone thinking about purchasing the new Dye DSR+ I would highly recommend it! I have been shooting mine for a few weeks now and have put over 10,000 shots through it already.
The new DSR+ is even smoother and slightly quieter than the old DSR. The ergonomics are much more comfortable too thanks to the extra space between the Front Grip and Trigger Guard. The new SFR allows users to adjust the shot quality to their liking with a turn of an Allen Key : “+” for a snappy shot quality and “-“ for a smoother shot quality. After breaking the Marker in (~6,000 shots or so) the difference between “+” and “-“ is noticeable. Turning the SFR from “+” to “-“ did cause the Velocity to decrease a little bit so make sure you rechronograph after adjusting the SFR. The new ARC+ Bolt System now includes the Flex Face Bolt which has been redesigned to be smoother and quieter and more reliable too with less O-Rings.
The addition of the nub at the base of the Battery Housing/Front Grip is nice - no more needing to use a Coin. The new Feedneck is also better and should be more durable. I just wish it had came with a Thumbscrew. Luckily the Thumbscrews from Inception Designs Feednecks fit perfectly. The new milling and gloss anodizing looks great compared with the old DSR - it reminds me of a Shark. The new ASA lever is also a lot better and easier to use than the old DSR’s and it should be more durable too. Something I wasn’t sure about was the new Trigger shape which is reminiscent of competition shooter triggers. However, after using it for a bit I have grown to like it and I’m sure other people will too. If you don’t like the Trigger shape it can be changed out for any of the old DSR Triggers.
Dye is supposed to be coming out with a Mechanical Frame for the new DSR+ pretty soon too. When I asked at World Cup they said it might be a few more months so possibly by PB Extravaganza? IronyUSA has also hinted at another ASA maybe like the M3+ SLAP ASA? I can’t wait to see what Dye has in store for the new DSR+!
Also, I have been shooting mine with the UL-S Barrel (from the M3 series and available separately too) and this helps quiet the shot down even more. Overall I really think Dye has done an excellent job so far with the new DSR+! It would be a great Marker to use whether you play front or back or even just play recreationally in the Woods. The only things I would recommend is getting the Feedneck Thumbscrew, and lowering the Trigger Sensitivity to 1 so it’s easier to Ramp.
