My advice to you would be to check at your local field. That's the best way to find teams. Maybe even talk to the field owner or the staff and see if they know. A lot of teams are sponsored by the local fields to play in local events. They'll know of teams. If the field you go to doesn't have any teams, maybe they know of a field nearby that does.

There is also a section of pbnation that is for different areas, check the section for NC and see if any tryouts or teams are posting in there recently.

I was about your age the first time I tried out for a team. I learned a lot from practicing with them every week, even though I never played a tournament with them.

I'm gonna be brutally honest with you, you're not ready. It'll cost you an arm and a leg. Do you have enough to pay for tournaments, entry, paint, jerseys, practice, time, guns, and tons of more stuff?

Don't let people dissuade you, the key is to go in SMART, CHEAP, and HIGH QUALITY -- get your friends $20 thermal Helix masks, get your friends $20 Tiger Sharks, wear the $10 slip-on knee and elbow padding from Wal-Mart, but here's the thing: you guys have to pitch in together to get the very best case of tournament paintballs that will fit your guns without rolling out (Tiger Shark, Trracer, maybe they share the same inner barrel width?)

I don't know what that magic brand of paintballs is, but there's got to be something out there. Don't be afraid to try 500-round samples until you find the magic paintball that works. Keep it air tight, clean your gear, don't scratch your lenses, etc.

Once you find this magic combination, limit how much you spend a week ($50 each tops, maybe $30 if you're renegades and can find a safe area out in the woods without any neighbors/cops / housing authority nuisances)

Start putting T-stocks and gun scopes on your guns lol
dress like Rambo

Start early so when you're playing in your 20s and 30s etc. you dominate mercilessly the woods fields and maybe speedball fields

ALWAYS PLAY SAFE!

First off check the SC forum. Better chance of finding one. Second tell people about yourself. Third read https://www.pbnation.com/showthread.p...t=thiswonthurt.

Last there is no cheap way to practice for speed ball. When I was playing tournaments (and the upcoming college season) I plan to shoot AT LEAST one case of paint a day in practice. If it is a scrimmage I plan for AT LEAST two. If you aren't use to laying down ropes in practice you won't do it in a tournament. Golden rule "Practice like you play". Silver Rule: "Practice like every point is the last point and you are tied".

Hopefully you've found out the info you need already, but I'd stand by the strategy of going to a few big games at your local field and talk with the regulars.
Once they get to know you, they'll probably have no problem with you playing on their team or at least helping you network with other people on your level.

Have a great '18 season!
