time to just go all in on autococker threads??

i'm sure this must have been asked before but is there any practical reason why all mfg can't just migrate to cocker threads now?? i can't imagine a scenario when another standard supplants it unless there's a functional difference. is there some kind of licensing or patent protection at play? if so, even that's got to be nearing the end at this point.

Not when the only Markers that use it are Luxes.

Also, the only advantage is a slightly quicker install with a slightly shorter Breech section.

With the advent of AutoCocker “Short” Threads there really isn’t any advantage.

Even the newer “Shockers” have AutoCocker threads...

So claims DLX. They've even told me straight-out that they think Cocker threads are "for the masses", and that DLX/Ion/NXT/GOG/SP/ABCDEFG threads are so much better for those who are sophisticated enough to appreciate them. And that if I wanted one of their guns in Cocker threads, I could buy a Shocker. There was a very clear implication that those of us who prefer Cocker threads were peasants and ignorant in the ways of true paintball goodness. That was about when I walked away.

I'm sorry. Maybe I haven't used it enough. But when I had my enmey all I remember from it was that I had to buy another barrel back. Still right tighty lefty loosey. What exactly is the difference?

Functionally nil, at least from an end user perspective. The thread dimensions are different enough to not interchange but similar enough to basically work the same.

Once upon a time, Impulse threads (which became Smart Parts/GOG/DLX thread) actually had an advantage. Fewer turns to get the barrel on and off. With most manufacturers now using Simon's "short Cocker" threading, there's very little point other than not being Cocker threaded.

Oh, it also allows them the notion that the Freak is still THE best way to go, since they include that as their standard barrel on most of their guns.
