Whoever told you that, hates you. Lol jk. Theyre not bad pumps by any means, but best? Nah.
Phantom, literally ANY Ccm, mvp....etc. it more has to do with your level of experience, financial investment and interest in play. How much do you want to invest in this sport? How much do you play rec or even pb in general? Do you want a gun thats plug and play? Or do you want a gun you can mess around with and upgrade?
I generally suggest if you have the ability to that you build one for yourself. It becomes a part of you. Find a body you like, pump handle you like, frame you like, and make the gun, well, YOU.
Or if you just wanna mess around 3 weekends a year you can pickup a kp3/sniper and just play, nothing wrong with that. Honestly if it counted id throw paintballs lol, whatever gets em to the dance. You also Could always find a used cocker pump already built with no pneumatics for pretty cheap. Gl

Good for you! Familiarity with your equipment means more than what that equipment is.

Just asking "what's best" is like asking what's the best vehicle, a N.Y. attorney is going to give a different answer than a W. Virginia farmer.

You have to figure out what's best for YOU.

I like the Nelson based stuff like cci phantoms, they are modular and there are so many combination and setups you can make. If you get board of one style just change it. Couldn't recommend it enough. It will have a stiffer pump action then anything out there though just FYI

I love my KP3. Used to have a phantom that I played stock class with. Also was a great pump gun. My KP3 is solid and has never let me down. Would highly recommend.

If you plan on only playing pump and this being your main marker, then obviously I'd look at something more high end.

This is like asking “what’s the best car?”

You’re not going to get a straight or clear answer. Opinion based.

There is a reason why CCM is what everyone else is measured to. Start by finding one of those and asking the owner to shoot it. Go from there and find out which one YOU like to shoot.

These guys are keeping up the company and have great customer service. They really helped me out with my gun and gave me a new VSC Breech due to mine being made out of specs. I will always use Phantoms.

You won't be disappointed in an empire sniper. Maybe not as 'refined' as say a CCM pump. But it gets the same job done at a fraction of the price. If you're lucky you can snag one on the BST with the stock class feed.

Phantoms are also a solid choice. Much lighter/slimmer than a cocker based pump. But the pump stroke isn't as smooth.

Phantom are smooth especially one that’s used a decent amount and kept clean. It’s just a stiffer stroke it’s not designed to shoot fast.
