New Quake rifled barrel for First Strike rounds for EMG100 at Paintball Extravaganza

The new Quake barrel has a threated front and comes with a short tip. However, a longer Planet Eclipse front can (reverse) thread right on.

I spoke to Jack Wood and asked point-blank: "Does the rifling on the Carmatech barrel do anything?"

Jack replied, "Absolutely 100% does with FSR! It's the only rifling that fully pre-spins the round, like a real bullet, before it exits the barrel.

Does it affect the distance? Accuracy? Both?

Jack: "Should be both. The round is fully spinning, fully stabilized, before it leaves the barrel. No other barrel does that. Just Nemesis and ours. The Quake barrel spins a First Strike round up to 11,500rpm."

Hmm, makes me wonder how well an Armson Stealth barrel would shoot First Strike rounds.

a friend and i have been using that armson stealth for first strikes for quite some time now, and it has been working really well for us. it is semi-rifled, so it isn't as hard on round ball as you would think, and gives a bit better accuracy with both. i prefer it over the lapco fsr barrel i have.

I thought for a minute that this was a Quake (video game) themed product and almost got excited. Because it is only a 20-year old game

Here are some MCB threads on the Nemesis that get a little more in depth on discussion and experimentation. From what I remember it's designed to get the FSR up to the RPM it would reach eventually out of the barrel so it doesn't have to waste energy being spun up.

The original barrel has a twist designed to give FSRs ~12,000 RPM when leaving the barrel, so it's interesting that they brought it down a bit for the Quake.

What is the ID on this barrel? I bought a Lapco first strike barrel (.683) for my MG100 and could not get a first strike round through it and it took a bit of effort to push it through with my swab.

For sure. Planet says that the Carmatech barrel already manufactured has a 12k rpm and for the shorter barrel they tested and found slightly less worked better.

Played with it at Bones & Ashes this weekend. It shot straight and true all weekend, zero issues with FS rounds, didn't try with round ball. In fact, I had the longest put out of my paintball career using it. Sat atop the 3 story conex and put someone out ~200 feet away, only 1/2 way out of a bunker, (I stepped it off after) sighting down the barrel in 2 shots. Kid I was with freaked out over the shot in disbelief.

I also own a Hammerhead barrel (One Shot Plus) as I couldn't find a Nemesis for sale anywhere, and it also shoots straight and true. I didn't feel like there was too much of a play ability issue between the two. But, I didn't bench test the two barrels with a scope to verify, just played with the errors associated with my old fat, bald, toothless shaky hands.

Considering my Hammerhead is longer, the Quake is shorter, and based on what Jack was saying in the video, I have full confidence in what he was saying is true and accurate by what I witnessed on the field. I wouldn't hesitate to tell anyone to purchase a Quake for their MG100.

people want to do some independent testing of rifled barrels? I have a t9.1 with a lapco and room to shoot 130ft.

Me shooting MCS shaped projectiles. Picture with the distances on them. Didn't bother messing with the scope for the change in distance. I do have the three videos also.
