New Carbon Paintball IC Barrel

I just picked up one of these and I didn't see a post about them (but I might have missed it). They had them at Cup and sold out, and then had them available on their website for a while, but it looks like they sold out again. Here's the details from Carbon:

Quote:
Description: The Carbon IC Barrel is a 14 inch, 2-piece, Freak XL Ready (insert) barrel system featuring an injected carbon back and aluminum front. The barrel's unique assembly secures the XL insert in-between the front and back of the barrel to present a perfectly controlled bore.

Both the tip and threading of the barrel are anodized aluminum to prevent noticeable wear and tear. Streamlined aesthetics, carbon injection, aggressive porting, insert viewing windows, and quick threads combine to create the one of the lightest barrels in the industry.

Features:
  1. 2-piece design
  2. Freak XL insert compatible
  3. Includes one insert ( custom anno'd sliver) .687
  4. Overall length 14.4" (36.5cm)
  5. Extremely light weight - 3.4oz (97g)
  6. Back sleeve is injected carbon fiber
  7. 6061-T6 Anodized aluminum tip and thread
  8. Tip is honed to an ID of 0.696"
  9. Quick Autococker threads
Basic idea is that it's a Freak XL based system that uses the front to lock the insert into the back. The front is aluminum and the back is carbon injected so the overall barrel is under 100g (for reference the Eclipse/DW Shaft FL (carbon fiber) barrel is just over 100g).

Here are some photos of my barrel. Additional images are at this link:

The way the tip is designed with minimal material in front of the threads appears to create "buckle zones" for when someone core samples. A safety feature no doubt.

It's cool to see Carbon consistently putting out new products. Is there any reason to be curious at to what marker is photoshopped out?

Wonder why they don't have them on their website? Kinda challenging to buy something you can't buy...…

Nevermind. There it is.

That is astonishingly hard on the eyes. I don't think I've ever hated a barrel before. I read the description and thought "Nice!" but man I scrolled down...gross. Please, someone put that on an Empire Syx with a Valken VSL so we can see the ugliest setup of 2k19.

Sure, like the PE CS1 Frames right?

I don’t like the looks and the porting should have been designed better.

The 8” Freak inserts are not too bad though so that’s good.

I bet $1 it’s a DSR, but BPP is probably correct lol.

I got excited when I read "carbon" but came to find out it's another insert barrel. *yawn*

I used to do inserts and then shot a UL barrel when I got my M3 and it's safe to say I won't ever go back to inserts again. If anything, the only insert barrel I will ever shoot is the Stella.

We need more 'unique' barrels. One I always mention is the Shaft FL.

I’m thinking it is the new PE Gtek that is expected at PBE.

The barrel is interesting ... I wonder how well it would do if someone dove wrong ... I think it looks okay. If i didn’t just pick up a whip tip to allow my PE fr back to use xl inserts I might have given this a chance.

Feel like you guys are thinking too hard about whats under the black out. He took these pictures himself so I assume he used his personal CS2 for the photos and wanted to maintain focus on the barrel by blacking it out.

Was thinking the same thing. Looks weak due to the windows in the tip

not feeling the windows in the barrel and how much you can see of the insert. going to be a pain cleaning if you get shot there too.

Instead of more barrel options we need higher quality paint again.

  1. No Upping threads. If you have something to say, please do, but don't post in the thread just to take it to the top of the forum.
  2. Do not post "1st post", "1st", "First post" or anything similar (or with any other number) at any point in a thread, even if you post a comment too. It is really annoying and it will result in a ban.

  4. Please don't post links for places to buy items. That encourages stores, sponsored players and other people to do it and spam the site.
