Trump Administration

Since $hakey is already so ashamed of his new commander in chief that he took down the election thread, I'll make one that stays up. A good place to start could be a little coverage on his proposed cabinet, the wealthiest in history populated with former Goldman Sachs employees, Oil industry CEOs and the swamp creatures he apparently decided not to drain.

At least he's got one skill: the long con.

So do you actually have a topic you want to discuss or did you just need to make a snarky comment and couldn't find the thread you wanted?

Figured we could talk cabinet until he/republicans start dismantling things like net neutrality and medicare.

Here's the latest cabinet list:

I heard from the propaganda channels that he is recruiting for his own security force.

Does every President do this or do most of them rely solely on the secret service for protection?

Don't forget he's also refusing to take up permanent residence in the White House.

He's not recruiting, he just hasn't fired the security guys he's always used yet and it's likely that he will keep 2-3 on as 'white house staff'. Unusual for sure, but it doesn't sound like he's bucking the secret service. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

It's going to be interesting to see how far the anti-Trump protests will get out of hand on inauguration day.

After reading what you've linked, it looks like he's just ditching the phrase but still intends to do something about "the swamp."

Curious... does anyone know the actual reason that thread is gone? Was is something the mods did, or did Shakey himself delete it for some reason?

Yeah, he's taking the swamp creatures out of the swamp and putting them in his cabinet.

Shakey deleted it, you'd have to ask him why.

He's putting millionaires and billionaires into his cabinet. I, for one, don't have a problem with that. These sorts of people tend to be very good at running incredibly complex organizations. Besides, using nothing but career politicians in those positions hasn't work out very well for us.

They're also great at channeling money to themselves.

I need to hire the marketing folks who've convinced you it's a good idea to put foxes in the henhouse.

considering the requirements of public service, combined with the need to campaign, career policitician is redundant. do you want a dude that's a real estate agent by day and a politician by night?

cracks me up that people think they are so bright for saying this country needs to be run like a business.

in a business, you charge the customer the MOST amount of money they will pay, and provide the LEAST amount of goods/services to maximize profit. competition is the only thing that drives you to provide more.

in a government you want those tax dollars stretched. charge the LEAST amount of money and provide the MOST services possible. quite the opposite.

Donald Trump is a celebrity, not a businessman. luckily for him, a minority of americans spaced out appropriately geographically speaking cant tell the difference.

wish my da-da would give me a million cash to get started and bail me out when I needed help. maybe id be president in a few years!

in before people are too dumb to realize their local water and electric companies have no competition and still provide service for low prices

That would be great if government operated in the Utopian way that you've just described. But it doesn't... that's the problem. Government tends to spend tax dollars in the most ineffective way possible, draw budgets that have created a $19.5 trillion debt, provide terri-bad services, and have little to no oversight.

I nearly fell out of my seat laughing when I read this. So owning multi-million (perhaps billion) dollar organizations doesn't qualify him as a businessman?

I don't know about where you live, but there's 3 separate electric companies that service my region that are all competing for my business. There's no monopoly on electric here. As for water, there is competition for that too...me! I disconnected from county water and installed a well and a filtered pump. I have my own water.

funny you have no idea what he owns because he keeps it hidden, but trump voters don't care. emails, you know. he may have settled a fraud case immediately after the election, but lock her up.

I think you and I would own a lot of stuff if our daddies gave it to us.

it is cool that you own a well, though.

He's free to keep his assets and holdings hidden. I couldn't care less. It doesn't change the fact that he's one of America's most successful businessmen. As for Hillary's emails, I've never called for her to be in prison. I only questioned what would've happened to me if I handled sensitive information in exactly the same way she did.

I find that to be irrelevant. He's still a businessman regardless of how he got his start-up capital.

It's probably one of the smarter moves I've made. I save a fortune every year not having a water bill. And the electricity required to operate the pump is far less than what I was spending on the water bill. I anticipate the well and pump will pay for themselves in about 5 years.
