I keep seeing people with earbuds in while playing. I don’t understand this. I feel like it would totally throw me off. What are people’s thoughts, for or against music while playing?

With music you could miss if the game is over, getting called out, someone else gets called out an you keep shooting him, someone sneaking up on you or if you get shot at right now.

I'm against hearing music while playing.

Imagine the ref stops the game cause someone lost his mask on the field and you keep shooting because you listened to music.

Maybe this people you see are communicating with earbuds/headsets over some sort of app or TW-radio.

I also agree. It would throw me off gameplay and make my communication poor on field.

I wouldn't recommend it, or ever do it honestly. You should always be aware of your surroundings. With that being said, if you WERE going to do it, I would at least leave one ear open. 👍

I also don't like listening to music while playing. For me, its a distracting thing.

Def not a good idea. Have busted a few ppl with earbuds in using them for outside "comm's". DQ'd from the events.

I've had decent success with Bluetooth beanies. Since the speakers dont actually go in your ear or fully encapsulate it like with headphones, your awareness with them on is still pretty good if you keep the volume down. It's not something I'd use in speedball. But for rec play and scenario games, I don't see an issue with it personally.

Can't imagine a speedball player listening to music and not getting ridiculed at a field -- and probably for the good reasons people already mentioned.

I could see the appeal of listening to music, but it would really mess up communication in a competitive setting.
