Paypal looks at it this way. When you are sending money as a gift to someone. It is intended to be exactly that. "A gift". which means you are saying you are giving this money with no intention of recieving any kind of service or goods in return. So let's say they stiff you and do not hold up there end of the bargain. Well paypal can't not acknowledge any wrong doings since you in fact said you weren't expecting anything in return. Though Pbnation may rule in your favor. They can not get you your money back. There is also no viable legal claim. However if you were to send it normally. Paypal can investigate on your behalf and determine weather you have sufficiant enough proof to be issued a refund. Mind you, Pal is by no means perfect. But it is a much safer way to purchase goods from people with no creditials. Always keep all conversations. To include every Private message and text message or any other form. And always Quote the thread so it can not be altered. PBnation has threads stickied to the top of every BST forum. (I believe). With TONS of advise for people in your situation.
So to sum it up. NEVER GIFT!!!

I gift all the time. Haven't been unlucky yet. I would never gift to anyone with an account 2K11+, or anyone with less than 100 feedback, or anyone with negative feedback.

Then again, I never buy anything from someone with an untrustworthy amount of feedback, etc.

If you're worried, you can send the amount+fees. ez.

What would be the best way to actually purchase an item through paypal? Using your debit card? bank account? or loading the money on paypal and then sending like that. Any safety issuses with using your card/account? or whats quicker?

I've given this a bit of thought and have come to the conclusion that, if the gun is > $800 or so, its more worth it to pay third party, and save on the fees because 3% of $800 is $24. Third party offers the advantage of a middle man who will make sure that everything is in good order, and can act as a witness if anything goes wrong.

This is what I do. I will not gift unless the persons feedback is over 100 positive AND they didn't sign up after 2011.

Whatever they want "gifted", just multiply the money they are looking to get by 3% and add $0.30 to the total to give them what they are looking for. This gives you insurance.

If you were to buy the gun elsewhere on a website, you'd have to pay tax and shipping anyway. Most people on here don't charge shipping anyway and you're getting things cheap enough, so just pay 3 percent and be safe.

People always want to gift it so they dont have to pay the $2.31 extra, while in the long run its a much cheaper investment than getting screwed.

credit card. with a CC you get 30 days to fight charges if something goes wrong, bank transfers are the worst to do as you can only get help from paypal not your bank or CC company. So always pay the 3% fee and get the added protection and use a Credit Card if you can to get more protection if some thing goes wrong and paypal cant help you the Credit card company will have your back.

no not all the time. Look at the feedback and what they sold or bought. Some items are less then $20 so your not getting credible feed back.
