New Macdev XDR

Prime XTS rubber front grip and wrap
Mechanical frame with simple two screw changeover
Infinity based drive design
Rechargeable battery system
OLED display

https://macdevpaintball.com/xdr/

That grip frame and trigger looks a little funky to me.

First thought. Why didn't they put a thumbwheel on the feedneck?

I like that they are in the mech game now though! Excited to see how these perform.

I noticed that. Perhaps this neck will function like the previous gen necks - you rotate (thread) the lever. Gotta retain some XTS-only features, I suppose.

On that note, the differences I see between the two:

1) XTS has magnetic eye covers, XDR doesn't.

2) XTS has adjustable foregrip, XDR doesn't.

3) XTS has a lever ASA, XDR looks to have a Clone 5 ASA.

4) Frame height - if you look at the XTS, the upper edge of the grip seals up against the lower edge of the body. The XDR frame looks to be ~1/4" taller, likely necessary to mount the solenoid to the frame instead of the body (to make for the quick mech changeover).

5) The ASA design, as mentioned above.

Think about it as 911 (XTS) vs. Cayman (XDR). You don't want to harm big brother's sales, even if the Cayman will stick right to its tail.

Some interesting stuff here - I didn't expect MacDev to stick to the Infinity Drive with this marker, so I'm curious to see how the actuator valve was designed. Given the HPR is located in the frame and the solenoid/mech valves will be (likely) fastened to their respective frames, this will be a true 2-screw swap. That's great. The mech frame looks good. I'm looking forward to seeing a breakdown.

I was hoping for a cyborg. But i knew it wasnt a cyborg. A mech is a good idea though.

I think its a bit overpriced since for the price, its so close to the prime, which might eat into sales.

The mech price is higher than the 170 that it might not eat their sales. Theres too many pe fan boys out there that when asked what marker you recommend, they will say 170 right off the bat despite having a superior option out there.

Still based on the Infinity Drive.

Looks pretty good to me, but a little bit expensive. I’ll be interested to see how it is as a mechanical Marker.

Mech xdr for $800

or

mech 170 for $660

The fan boys at PE will be laughing at the pricing of this.

The pricing between the two is close with both frames.
170r with mech frame: $1010
XDR with mech frame: $1050

So it will come down to performance and ergonomic preference.

Mech only as others have said is a much larger gap. I look forward to seeing if the difference in triggers is enough to overcome a M170r with upgraded trigger and valve which would still be less than the MacDev.

that gun looks so awkward. that trigger/frame is so ugly and goofy looking. they somehow managed to make a deuce trigger look stupid on a marker...

I'm not a fan of the M170 trigger. This looks like it takes the strengths of the M170 and CVO to combine them into a single marker (assuming the trigger is as good as it looks). So the XDR as a mech only just might be worth it. Definitely happy to see a new competitor in the high end mech world.

Not sure the poppy loud infinity drive is what I want to be hearing if I chose to shoot mech.... I will be happy when Macdev moves away from the infinity drive.... I'll beat the dead horse again... BRING BACK THE DROID/CLONE GT DRIVE.... and another cyborg would be nice...however the XDR looks nice, just not my cup of tea. Hope Macdev makes bank on it and uses that money to bring back the Droid drive....

I would be interested to try one out. The price is a bit high from a mech only perspective but the combo is right in-line with what is out there. Wish it maintained the tooless eye covers and some of the other gucci features.

Are you really asking if a small marker company sells $4.5m in marker sales a year? lol.

Id imagine they sell like 600-800 markers.

Not a chance.

There are ~600 XTSs in circulation.

I ask because you need to see the long term aspects of a company who in their mind need to stay afloat to better produce products for more people

That being said, purposely pricing yourself out of the m170 is not a good move.

Looks like two good offerings from MacDev, I hope to see the mech version at a field this summer.
