The NXL introduces the International Classic Paintball League - mech and 5.5 bps

International yet no European events?

NXL is undoubtedly trying to get some money out of other people’s hard work... I mean, uh, trying to get “affiliates.”

I get the rule, you just look get more style points rolling out with an old hopper.

Will this league hurt the number of teams going to ICC and the other already existing mech events? This is basically in competition with the other events. Or will this strengthen the whole of the Mech leagues? Either way, we're super excited to see more Mech tournament leagues popping up.

I think you'll see those other events grow as well. But what it might hurt is the 10-man events they hold at NXL events. I believe if there are other options for mechanical 10-man events with the three primary field choices (Hyperball, woodsball and mounds) you'll see less teams going to NXL for 10-man only.

I wonder if paintball has quickly become saturated with mech events. I wonder if it will become over saturated.

I believe you'll see a few events (ICC) continue to draw the teams and have the cool old school vibe. And you'll see the NXL 10-man events start to draw a sizable number of teams (might take a year or two to build up, hopefully they're in for the long haul).

I also think you'll see several other "local" events do well and provide a place for teams within driving distance to play 10-man. Not every event will be huge like ICC but the entire movement is growing at a pretty fast clip right now.

If you look at how many Local and regional x-ball leagues there are around the country 10-man events still have a long way to go before it's saturated.

As a younger player that never had the chance to play the "old school" style of paintball in a tournament format I'm pleased to hear of this announcement. Hope to see y'll out there!

Did having solid pro teams register for ICC deter others from signing up or did it add to the experience?

I don't think it will be as exciting for players to say "We just beat half of Impact and some other guys on the mounds field..."
I actually DID hear people complain that some of the pros were just fielding their whole x-ball roster for 10-man. The ICC was sold out months in advance with a 20 team wait list, restrictions on pro rosters wouldn't have changed that.

How many 10 teams do you think come to a regular NXL (non-World Cup) to compete (no sarcasm)? I unfortunately never have time to play in these, but I do tend to make my way over there at some point and most of the time it looks like players who just didn't move on to Sunday. And I think World Cup 10 man will always be massive because well...it's World Cup.

I'm just excited to see the mention of more 10-man and non-airball paintball. Reminds me of when I started playing and all we had were the woods.

I think the point system is going to make it a lot more work than necessary.

Let the teams play. As a man I would be embarrassed to say I don't want to play a guy because he is too good.

If I had to guess I'd say 2 or 3 teams every event come to play 10-man the rest of the teams are made up of teams/players that didn't make it to Sunday. But if you don't have that base of teams to start with I'm not sure the next team signs up at the event.

So I am thinking that ICC would be the east coast event. Maybe Tim will confirm or deny this..... or make us wait til the dates are released. That would still give 3 solid 10 man mech events, plus the odds are strong that a group of people who are not be talked about will most likely have a 10 man mech in Chicago. Sounds like a solid start.

I was able to play several games using the Gmek and Gtek back to back. The Gtek was capped to 5.5bps.

My conclusion, I will rather use a electro capped to 5.5bps as long as it is allowed in mech games.
