Micro Gauge Protector

Hello. I made this 3D printed gauge protector that fits on Ninja micro gauges. Like the one on the Ninja Pro V2 reg. It also fits the gauge on the HK Army Aerolite Extra Light 'Adjustable Regulator'.

https://www.shapeways.com/product/39...auge-protector

You can have it 3D printed and shipped to you if you follow the link.

I have the model specifically tuned for all the tolerances of the Shapeways nylon printer. Did a number of iterations so it fits just snug enough. Unfortunately Shapeways is a print on demand service so it's a little expensive right now, and depending it might take like 3 weeks to arrive. So be aware of that.

BUT, I have not seen gauge protectors exist anywhere else so far, and my gauges always crack, which is why I made this for myself. So thought I'd share if anyone else wants to prevent their gauges from getting cracked.

*Update*
A couple nice people on here contacted me asking to buy the file, or give me royalties on prints of it. Which is really a nice gesture I find, really speaks to how good the paintball community is. But, this little silly part is just so simple and such low returns it's really not worth making any deal over. So I have decided to just post the CAD for anyone who wants to print it. Feel free to print and sell them if you think you can make money with it.
https://www.3dcontentcentral.com/par...&catalogid=171

Or purchase it off the Shapeways link for a much higher quality print. I will say that Shapeways uses the nicest printers available, that cost in the tens of thousands, and the parts they print are on par with being actually manufactured. You won't be able to print it yourself with comparable quality on a home printer. I also do have a $1 markup on each item on Shapeways, which you could just make your own account, upload the file and save the $1, or buy it off mine and consider the $1 a tip.

Interesting! I was going to ask how it locks on to the gauge until I checked the link. That's a nifty little solution you've made right there, well done.

the plastic cover on m gage breaks cause where i live its cold so the metal shrinks and squeezes the lens.

Nifty idea. My gauges are usually unreadable over time due to cracking and debris.

I actually thought about making this myself. As protection and casing for a new glas (mine cracked) cut out from a polycarbonate sheet.

I could add TPU print option, but it's more expensive. Would be over $20. The nylon that it prints in I think is quite good for this purpose though. It's rigid but still flexible.

So I just had to bump this old thread when I saw these on HKArmy's website:
https://hkarmy.com/products/gauge-co...32219101134918

Literally copied my design, but made it out rubber. Lol. Only three people had actually bought mine off of shapeways, I guess that was HKArmy to decide whether or not they wanted to copy it.

But there only review is 1 star because the guy says the soft rubber doesn't grip well enough and it keeps falling off.

I'll tell you the nylon printed one I posted off shapeways stays on extremely well, in fact probably its biggest flaw is once the thing clamps on, it is quite a bother to pry it off the gauge.

Also, @TheBroz, sorry don't check this thread much, but if your still around, or to anyone else interested, measure your gauge and I can check. Or maybe create a new one in proper dimensions.

Just measured the gauge on my PH reg and it appears to me that it has the same exact dimensions like you posted on your Shapeways page, so I don't see why it wouldn't fit PH gauges as well.

I was going to buy some of the HKArmy ones until I saw this post. Glad you bumped it.

EDIT: Just bought two as well. Thanks!

Wow, $10 shipping. If you're going to order you might want to get a few.

I know its an issue. I actually emailed Shapeways telling them they need a cheaper option for smaller items last year, and they said they were working on it. But still nothing has changed.

I do believe these on-demand 3D print stores are the future of manufacturing. But do admit they are still lacking to be truly competitive. They need to be faster, still need to be a bit cheaper and shapeways definitely needs a cheaper shipping option.

But that is why I have started to play with this now. I think in a few years it may actually be able to compete with Chinese mass manufacturing giants like HK Army or others in speed and cost. Which will be an exciting thing for individual inventors.
