Electro guns converted to mechanical

In light of the rise of the Gmek, I've been thinking about other electro guns that could be converted into mechanical guns. I think I remember seeing some people converting ions and SFT Shockers to mech back in the day and I'm looking for some pictures or tutorials of these builds to reference, as well as any other guns that have been converted to mech.

for the most part you're using a mechanical valve that is operated by the trigger to simplify the system.

mech conversions arent the most common,
but what I do see is a wonderful opportunity if you have the time or the gumption to tackle this project.
Go for it. see what fits, see what doesnt.

Being dwell-insensitive makes for an easier conversion platform (alternatively, being a sear tripper, like an SLG, also helps).

Any spool valve that closes the dump chamber when the bolt is forward should work. That includes Ions (with dual-tail oring bolts), SFT and NXT Shockers (with HE bolt kits), DMs, Droids/Clones up to the Clone GT, etc.

And to convert them, all you need is a valve like this:

And a bracket to mount it behind the trigger.

Some guns just don't mech well IMO. The DSR, for instance, requires a minimum dwell or it won't cycle fully. Guns like our rize which is an air sear isn't a great platform to mech, despite the fact it can and is done. The SLG, however, is a very good platform to mech (I have one).

So you're saying you can make a dm6 mechanical?

I'm going to need more info on this.

You could use a mechanical normally closed 3-way valve as a switch pilot for a the 4-way valve that actually switches the bolt. Otherwise, you're looking at dismal consistency.

Just about anything can be done with enough $, time and research.

Using clippard parts; Lpr into FV5 with 3/8 bore piston actuator and also into MAR regulator down to 45 psi. FV5 operates ram or bolt. MAR output to fabco msv 2 valve which connects to trigger. Makes for a .5 ounce trigger pull. Msv output to pavo normally open pilot valve and into a 1 way flow meter into the pavo's pilot. Pavo output to the actuator of the FV5.

Operation. Trigger opens msv and air goes through pavo and actuates fv5, marker fires. Air from msv also leaks through flow meter into pavo's pilot. Once pressure there hits 15 psi the pavo closes off air from the msv and switches to venting. FV5 resets and bolt comes back. Trigger is released and msv and pavo reset. Flow meter has reverse check valve so it vents instantly. Can get dwell to 20ms roughly and reset time is similar.

Parts run about $200 sadly. Have test version in an evil pimp. 15ish bps and 280 +-5 fps at 300psi op, 120psi lpr, 45psi control
