JT Flex lowers observation

If you look at this pic of my (grimy) lowers:

The vents are horizontal.
If you look at 'new' Pro-flex masks being produced today they are more vertical/hole-like:

I observe this to be a big enough difference to post about it and introduce the opportunity for feedback from the JT mask loving community.

Your top pic is from the real JT days and the lower pic is a JT/GI mask. They have got so much wrong over the years. The foam, the quality of the lens’s.....

Yea, I guess that makes sense... I just want to know who got a promotion with that design change.

The lenses do leave something to be desired. I've recently thought about switching to a E-flex, but I like the old spectra hard ears I've installed on my Flex-7/proflex.

I hated the new JT stuff as it just wasn’t the same anymore so I sold all of it for a pretty good penny 2 seasons ago and moved to the “modern jt proflex” the virtue vio extend. Good lens’s but not as good as dyes. But the foam and ears are fantastic. The lower doesn’t breath as good as flex but it’s pretty good.

But over all i find it the best mask out.

I'm just curious, what did they get wrong with the foam? My Proflex that I bought new last year, the one I bought in 2014, the foam in the Empire Vidar (Spectra frame still), the new old stock 2007 frames I bought in 2012, and my old green IZE all had very similar feeling foam with the only difference being that the foam in my IZE started to disintegrate after I used it for a month and a half.

I'm gonna second the lenses though. I had a lens I couldn't see out of for a very decent portion of it after being hit twice with lucky crossfield shots that would have been guaranteed bounces if they didn't hit something hard.

The real JT was softer than the empire foam. And yes there were some bad batches, the ize especially, the soft lower deformed, and the foam rotted.
