Half backed, frame forward spyder

So im about to start on my next project and it's looking like it will be a frame forward and half backed spyder with vs2 guts. I found a couple of old threads on PBNATION but they are either dead end posts or have broken picture links.

Not looking for someone to type an essay on it but if you know of a good thread that cover the frame forward part I'd appreciate it.

My understanding of it is that the frame gets pushed forward utilizes the vertical adapter retaining threads (longer bolt). Drill and tap for rear frame bolt. Drill for back cap pin. Rear of the bottom tube gets shortened to match the forward frame, bolt gets shortened an equal amount. The sear channel gets milled forward a bit. Im assuming the spring guide can be shortened and new springs for the main and valve to compensate for the shortened stroke. Is that about right??

Regarding half backing it seems pretty straight forward but if there are any pitfalls to avoid that would be appreciated too.

Thanks in advance
