Both of you will want to join the Facebook group "Carolina Speedball Meetup" which is going to be the best place to find team/tryouts/fields to play speedball.

I'm not that familiar with Morehead but if that's near the coast your best bet is likely Jacksonville Paintball Park which has a good speedball crowd and a couple of teams.

CPSL is the regional XBall league for the Carolinas/Mid-East Coast. They have D3-D5X for 2021. I would find that league on facebook as well, Carolina's Premiere Speedball League.
