Oklahoma D-Day
Anybody doing Oklahoma D-Day this year? They said it's the last year for it.

What kind of gear do you D-Day Vets recommend about specific gear? Vests/chest rigs/plate carriers? Pod loadout? What kind of weird stuff do you guys like to carry on your kit? I’ve been deployed three times and am used to being out for 8+ hours and living days on end out of a pack with a stupid amount of weight (which was never my idea for the record!!....Never is!)
.......But what I’m thinking is Mask, Ion “Bogi” longbow set up, plus a tiberius T8 on the hip with two extra mags, Run a Type 81 SKS chest rig with a couple of 50 round pods, a radio set up, a stock class belt with a bunch of 10rnders, a camo day pack with my HPA tank remote lined in, a camelback, a canteen (2 is 1 and 1 camelbak will always pop), snacks/an MRE for the day, 100% deet bug spray, smoke grenades, an FX-7 Paint mine (sold on ebay) then for clothing some Crye G3 or Patagonia combat pants, salomon boots with OR gaiters, my viperhood with a tee shirt and hde forearm pads + some cami paint for the bare spots of skin
What do you guys think? Anything different? Whats your preferences on scenario specific stuff?........I plan on running so light because I’ll be forward with the OSS and my little bros gonna be my SAW Gunner/Spotter with my Etek and another Viper hood

I’ll be going for my third year in a row and anticipating a great time. 82nd airborne gliders. Great group of people.
In terms of gear, know that it’s going to be hot and humid, so a hydration pack is more important than any other piece of gear other than your mask. Supportive and broken-in boots, too. If it rains, a visor is handy for deflecting water from your goggle lens.
Because of the heat and ease of picking up paint and air on the field, I go light. I also play with a group that moves around the field, so I won’t hunker down and shoot cases of paint in one sitting. If you plan to defend the beaches, then go heavy and take lots of paint.
I’ll primarily play with a PE M170R, 68/4500, and Rotor LTE. I’ll start each day with 600 rounds on my back and 200 in the hopper, and then refill at the field stations as needed.
Keep as much insulating material away from your body as you can. Padding, vests, and such are going to trap heat and may limit your play due to heat exhaustion. I don’t wear gloves but many do...it’s a trade off. Same with headgear.
In with my hydration pack I’ll carry extra electrolyte powder packets to dump in with water when I refill on the field, laminated field map, compass, a couple of snacks like salted nuts and raisins, microfiber towels, barrel cover, paint tickets (in a waterproof baggie), bug repellent, and a barrel squeegee.
My strategy is more about staying effective through the whole day rather than looking period correct for the scenario. Everyone has there own preference, but for an older guy like me, I need to be smart about conserving energy and strength for when the team needs me.

Hey Exile308. What kind of game play are you looking for? Maybe I can help direct you to a unit if I knew what style to hoping to experience.
Personally I like to 82nd Airborne 325 Gliders. Friendly group of people with close friendships who welcome new people like they’re family, and the unit tends to roam the field. It’s a great one if you don’t mind being more mobile and getting in your steps for the day. Alternatively, if you like to defend and be stationary while shooting loads of paint, then joining Axis at a beach like Omaha or Utah is ticket. Or you could ride in a shielded tank and make everyone outside the tank miserable. So many options.

Exile,
If you're still planning to go to D-Day 2021, I know the beach guys in the German KMG see a lot of action and are a cool group. If you register with them, I know their unit leader will help you get to where and how ever you want to play.
