NXL Venue for Richmond VA event

Since it's so close to me, I've been keeping tabs on this event and possible locations. Today, I noticed that the Meadows Event Park Calendar now lists a "National Paintball Competition" on 6/26 - 6/28.

I just googled it and it really depends upon where they set up - there is a large open area on what I believe to be the East side of the road that looks pretty damn nice.

any word if that community college soccer team from the Philly event last year ever got to use that field again???

word was they were supposed to have a game that Monday night after the event where the divisional fields were set up

Yeah I was just at the venue not long ago and it'll be a great location. If you want to do stuff though you'll want to book hotels closer to the city but not in it if you don't wanna fight traffic getting to the venue. I'll help with hotels/food/entertainment guides

Coming from a Florida resident!? ouch!

I'll probably make a day trip on Sunday, haven't been to an NXL event since WC '17 and excited to see an event back in VA.

I can go anywhere in Richmond or VA and be perfectly fine...

VA is one of those States where you go on Vacation, leave on Probation, come back on a Violation, then the next thing you know it’s 10 years of Incarceration.

And everything is illegal there lol.

The governor is also trying to make paintball and airsoft illegal. Even talking about it would be illegal along with any actual firearms. So it seems an odd place to have industry dollars go to.

Pretty sure the NXL isn't about to become a politically motivated entity. They have events where their teams decide are the best geographic and economical locations for the players.

Did you just state that the NXL makes their decision on where to hold events based on the leagues teams input ? I guess not our teams input, as we have never been asked anything about locations or venue choices. Maybe just the Pro teams input ?

I'd say they look at the demographics of all the players that participated in the NXL last season and possibly other past seasons and use that to help drive "popular" locations. The closer to home for a large group of players means more likely customers for the NXL.

They didn't poll the players, but they use the players demographic information.

I also think the NXL has a few "Trusted Advisers" that they reach out to from time to time to discuss many aspects of their offering, including event location.

He was questioning why the NXL would choose to spend money in a state that is effectively working to outlaw paintball. Seems perfectly sensible for the NXL to not support that.

An area with a national level paintball event will see a positive economic impact.
Why would you give that impact to someone who want's you not exist?

Where are you getting your information? VA seems to be attempting to pass minor gun control laws, but I see nothing about airguns (except to ban them from capitol grounds per security concerns).

Wouldn't a successful national paintball event provide a good argument and incentive to keep paintball legal in the state?

As a VA resident and 2A advocate, I keep up with the laws that are going through my state. There's NOTHING that would affect Paintball, Airsoft, or the like. The only law affecting them is 15.2-915.4. Counties, cities and towns authorized to regulate use of pneumatic guns, and that's been in place since 2004. And guess what...we still love and play paintball here.

Don't believe everything you hear, keep politics out of paintball.
