Hmm, I included the personal preference bit just off hand, but I didn't really think anyone had that preference. Do you like that it feels a bit heavier when you're changing where the gun is pointing? With a back-heavy loader, could you compensate with a counterweight on the barrel and be happy? (at least with a full hopper, and assuming it didn't change the overall weight too much, etc.)

The weight closer to your shoulder moves a smaller distance when you're changing the direction the gun is pointing, or even just pulling it up off the break to shoot a lane. Just like when you're turning in a car, your inside wheels travel a shorter distance than your outside wheels. So the more the setup is back heavy, the less force is required to change where you're pointing. This should make it feel quicker to change where you're pointing. Unless I'm overlooking something.

OK, I crowdfunded a black one and a speedfeed. When will we know if we're getting the feed ramp upgrade, and when will that be available to purchase if not?

Thanks

1.) why is an established company like bunkerkings, who is owned by Virtue, still using kickstarter? Its to help new companies, not ones who have been around and already had several successful product launches. And don't say its for the discount because you just as easily could of done a pre-order on the virtue site for the same options.

2.)The price is too high. If it came with speedfeed, ramps and all the other BS, ok then maybe its justified. But in order for my $235 hopper to be the best it can be, i need to shell out more cash? no thanks.

3.) Stock two tone hoppers, hate them. I get its a preference thing, but I like my solid hoppers.

4.) I think the angle indicator is way less useful than the reload indicator light on my spire 3. I shoot 3 balls at practice to set the level of my barrel for a lane and then practice it, I dont need a light to help me with that.

5.) Capacity, I get that im a back player and this doesnt apply to everyone, but my stock spire 3 is great, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE my 280. It allows me to keep lanes up longer, more wiggle room for the timing of my reloads and the profile isn't too big imo.

That being said, it looks like a nice hopper and I am sure it performs well, but it misses too many marks for me in order to drop serious cash on it to replace my spire 3.

Is there going to be a higher capacity shell? i like the loader, but only 200 capacity is a huge drawback for me after using spires for years.

If/when I'm shooting shotguns or rifles I agree, I put a lot of force in my shoulder before a shot, balance isn't in the equation. I'm in a stable position and roughly know where to shoot. In paintball there is a ton more movement, I spend a ton of time switching between shooting left and right handed and every time I set up a shot my body may be in a different position/configuration than the last one.

If I spent the majority of play with my marker shouldered in one position I probably wouldn't care about balance. But, this being paintball, and me liking to play like I'm still in my early 20's I scramble around the middle/front of the field during play.

I don't have a good non-me example. Long ago I spent a season volunteer fighting Wildland fires. Everyone has a tool to build fire lines and none of them are balanced... when you are driving a polaski or a mcleod into the earth why would you want it to be? However when trudging up to wherever you were going to build that fire line you always hold your tool in the safest, most balanced way possible. This would save your energy for building that trail later. Since paintball markers don't have to be driven into the ground to tag someone I find balance outweighs any benefit to textbook shouldering of a marker.

Point I'm trying to make is for paintball, the book may suggest back heavy strong shouldered marker will get you the best shot. What I'm saying is 30 minutes into the final battle of a scenario game where you're puffing and wheezing good shots for me come easier with a more balanced marker.

It is a pre-order. It's not actually Kickstarter. Designed to look "similar" to Kickstarter to inspire some excitement I suppose

Cameras and timers are definitely things we've often looked at. Lots of reasons to do it and equally as many technical reasons, and most importantly, mass market based alternatives to not do it.

Incidentally, on this subject, I've spoken with several of the manufacturers and also the NXL about looking into the future and defining a technical standard that would be implemented down the road (and announced a year or more beforehand) about allowing some degree of technology in terms of communication of equipment or players etc. There's a lot more to that topic, but I personally feel the gear technology rules are not only outdated, but are holding us back from making some innovative products.

Imagine for instance everyone having a scoreboard broadcast to their watch, loader or gun. There's even more cool stuff that can be done to enhance the playing experience. I personally feel that "how loud can you shout until you go hoarse" is incidental to Paintball and actually detracts from the playing experience and even holds back talent development.

One aspect of my suggestion to the "NXL technology roadmap" for consideration, that I'm definitely in favor of is a closed circuit audio channel for each team that everyone can listen into, and no one except players on the field can broadcast on.

How awesome would it be to plan moves in real time, and have fans follow your live audio stream? Coordinated moves would be more sophisticated and all you "lose" by allowing the tech is the ability to engage in low resolution angry garbled shouting. Meh... That is a skill of sorts, but it's a hell of a lot better skill to talk to three teammates with clarity and execute a sweet move while under fire AND being listened to clearly by thousands of fans in real-time.

So yes, I do love me some tech based solutions. I want to go farther than pocket watches and gopros 🙂

^thats exactly how I pictured the Dye I5 & Evoke and the Empire EVS H.U.D. working...

To bad, I agree that there is some potential there.

It would have to run off Bluetooth but also be a LAN that no one else can hack into.

What if other teams could hack your team and then steal your plays or know exactly when and where you are going to move. I think the Russians would probably try to hack into it lol...

Honestly I don't think we should be concerned about people listening in. I'm saying broadcast it. As long as outsiders can't communicate in, it's ok. And the fact that it's broadcasted means outsiders will hear any cheats if some coach did try to communicate to players.

If a player on the sidelines really wanted to listen to the other team while they were playing to reverse engineer a play, that's kind of cool too. Teams would increase talent as a result and also get good at ways to prevent that.

(Russian hackers is always fun to think about though, but don't forget about the corrupt Ukrainians... Heh, pointing fingers at others seems a national pastime!)

I would be more concerned about someone on the sidelines using communication tech to tell the team on the field the opposing teams positions. Sideline coaching killed the sport once.

pretty much, i cant see any way to avoid that unless every team's frequency is changed randomly every time they get on the field

VPB-ChristianW with the classic movement and woodland/scenario an OLED factory timer would win more games than trajectory indicator every time. I have got a trajectory indicator called my barrel. Maybe watch the BK FB vid with Jason fanning the trigger and a digital watch gaffer taped to the back of his CVO to work out the market?

Same can honestly be said about the spire 3, and you can get it in a 280 capacity to boot.

I would really like to try the CTRL at the very least but I donít think I can justify going out and buying one. I hope it does sell well, but itís a hard sell for me unless there was a low cost ďupgradeĒ program in place.

It really is like smartphones, not too many people upgrade Yearly since itís an incremental change (like 6 to 6s) but older than that itís pretty appealing.

Yeah.

It is a good design, don’t get me wrong.

I like it, I just already have 2 electronic Loaders (4 if you count my Pulse RDRs lol).

I think it could be a good choice for someone that needs a good electronic Loader.

I agree that there's some interesting development opportunities that can come from the resurgence in mechanical. I played at the ICPL with Jason and his taped watch. I just wear my watch on my wrist like a normal person. Hah.
