I love my GX classic bag, but I wish PE used this opportunity to add more features to their bag instead of just a Velcro patch panel. Why not a hard/rigid compartment for a mask like the new Virute bag? Or a changing mat like on the Empire bags? I know that last one would have been highly appreciated at this years NXL Chicago. Same with removable/stow away shoulder straps.

Or why not have the main compartment panel fully zip off and double as a tech mat? Maybe a few elastic straps on the outside to store pods in? Another nice thing would be an elastic strapping or elastic net to pull over a case of paint on the end where the luggage handle pulls out. That way your case would stay secure on the bag as you drag is through the grass/gravel/dirt/mud/on pavement. Ok, these last ones are more wishes for the general idea of a gear bag, but I've always felt paintball gearbags have been lagging. Especially for the price they command.

Eclipse luggage is just iconic now. They last so long and hold up so well, you see them everywhere. I love when I see one at the airport and I'm not even going to or from a paintball event. They are everywhere.

Agreed. I did a doubletake when I saw that. What a great idea. I am always looking for extra space coming back from events too.

I could go on and on about the reason we make the decisions we do about our bags but the reply would be VERY long. The Classic Kit Bag has being very similar for many many years. It has been tweaked and improved over the years in terms of size, strength and features but only tweaks. I guess that’s why we call it the Classic. We have tried a lot of the things that you have mentioned over the years in different bags but more features = more cost, more features also = more weight and both of these things we would like to keep to a minimum. We used to have a changing mat in our XL Classic bag but nobody cared about it so what’s the point. The end panel is pretty hard but could be harder your right. But that adds weight and not everyone puts goggles in that section. Elastic straps get ripped off in baggage handling, extra straps and nets we have tried but ended up benching due to it sometimes being a failure point or just pointless for some/most people. Over the years we have launched other bags that we LOVE like the split roller but the reality is that some people love them but hardly anyone buys them so they get cut from the line. We love our Classic Kit Bag, you know what it does and it doesn’t try to be anything more than a great roller bag for your Paintball (and other activities) adventures and now you can put your team patch (or whatever) on it :-)

Sorry we can't tick all of your boxes.

I love it. I am beyond impressed you took the time to answer Ledz! For those of you that don't know, this is the owner of Planet Eclipse. Not only does he know off the top of his head more about the evolution of a specific product, he also knows why they they make it the way they do.

This is the kind of attention to detail that keeps Planet on top.

Going back to the roller classic bag, the number of long walks I have done over the years overburdened with kit, it is amazing i haven't bought one.

I'm on board with this part. The hard mask storage was the primary reason I bought my Empire bag over other bags, and the first thing I noticed when I saw the above photos was the mask just stuffed in the top half of the bag. I'm sure every player has one or two things they'd design differently on any given bag they've owned; I know I do!

With that being said, these bags aren't targeted towards me anyways. Eclipse has probably figured out exactly what drives the most volume on their product, and that's what they're going to make. I do like the ANS exclusive colorway, and wish this would become more of a thing, although I understand brand image consistency and cost both come in to play here. Unlike HK Army, it's much harder to offer 100 colorways when you're making quality over quantity.

Overall, nice looking bags. I need a new backpack

I'm not asking for features that are gimmicky or un-tried. I'd like to see these features added with PE's quality behind them. I've had the GX classic for 4 years and the only issue I've had is the zipper on the clear panel pocket broke off. 4 years of dragging up and down stairs, in and out a plethora of vehicles, and through all kinds of weather. Take PE's ability to make something damn near bulletproof, and use it add new features that will last.

you mention elastic netting would break. why not make a net from the same material the handle straps are...that seatbelt webbing material. for the mask area, why not make a metal skeleton/framing that encases that smaller area? much like Exalt does with the V3 mask case.

I too could go on and on about the features I'd love to see in gear bags, or accessory equipment in general. also, before anyone says "why not just get a mask/marker/hopper/tank case?" I believe its completely useless to get a case for something that will then sit in another, larger case/bag.

Trying to fly with these things, I’ll jump on the “less is more” bandwagon. A couple large open pockets, durable handle and wheels, skid plate and it would be great if it stands up straight by itself. Don’t need a million little pockets, armored inside pocket for a mask, changing mat etc. I can change standing on a broken down paint box like I’ve been doing for 15 years. My mask stays in an exalt case, so essentially my “hard mask pocket” can be moved anywhere in my bag I want, or clipped to the outside of it.

Too many features just over complicates the bag, makes it more expensive and takes away how much you can put inside without going over the weight limit.
