Stardard FPS for airsoft rifles is 400 fps shooting a .20 gram BB. This is for assult rifle model guns, usually ones that have full auto and semi firing modes. Sniper rifle are usually allowed to shoot around 500 fps with a .20 gram, but they are spring action and have to be cocked each time before firing (like a pump gun or a 1093 springfield rifle). They also have a very long engagement distance. Most gas operated guns only shoot between 270-330, depending on the model.

Velocities in airsoft are assuming you are using a .20BB. Most players prefer to use .23-.28 for gas operated and AR models and .28-.35 for snipers. Anything shooting faster than 500 is not made for airsoft games against other people.

There does not appear to be any required standard safety gear.
FPS regulation seems to be spotty at best.

These issues can obviously be sorted out by responsible field owners/management. But the airsoft community as a whole needs to take safety regulation more seriously before injuries to children give their sport a bad rap.
What you are describing for that field is crazy. The places I play at are super strict on their safety rules. You are not allowed to fire your gun anytime outside of the fields. Before you leave the field, you must remove you mag from the gun and shoot into the ground several times to clear the chamber. When you come back onto the field, then you can put your mag into your gun. For safety equipment, all my fields require anyone under 18 to have full face and eye protection. If you are 18 or older, some places only require you to have eye protection, but they must create a seal around the eyes (so no sunglasses), but most people still wear lower face protection.

They are simple rules to follow, just like paintball. Maybe we are just lucky since our airsoft field is owned and operated by an old pro paintballer.

You have to put a gun on the barrel of your gun?!?

Since it is eleven feet long you could just barrel tag everyone.

If you go to the companies website they state that this not to be used as an airsoft gun and should not be shot at other people. At extravaganza they made it very clear they are not airsoft and called themselves airhard.

Now will someone get this and shoot at someone? probably. Is that person stupid? yes. But that would be the same person that would shoot thier friend with a full on bj gun. This is a novelty product that some people will by as a joke or to shoot some bottles. That is what the company was promoting it for, not to be used in game play.

Exactly, if you get caught with this on your marker in Canada it is illegal and considered a firearm, if you shoot someone your screwed. I'm assuming with an FPS like this it's designed for targets, regardless technically you HAVE to possess a PAL and register your marker as a restricted weapon with this modification, crazy but true and not at all worth it.

Was posting this as you did. Still I wonder if the company has considered the legal ramifications if some numpty does do that.

How would the legal ramifications be any different than Daisy's, Benjamin's, Crosman's, etc. liabilities for their BB and pellet guns? If they never advertise it to be used to shoot at other people, then they should not have any liability.

Edit: BTW, has anyone tried it out yet?

This scares me. Airhard - shooting metal BBs... turns your paintball gun into essential a home security (firearm).

It would not be allowed in the UK.

However, it does look fun and they have the BEST promo video

I'd be a very happy camper if i could convert my mara into an airsoft gun for a day of play - playing with ramping and adjusting the fps to 400 would be a thrill. Also it kind of sucks using a milsim rifle when the physics and game style allow for paintball style tactics and form. i got bagged on all the time for airsofting like a paintballer "hold your gun correctly" or "play like it's a real firearm, not like you're paint balling", obviously i don't care but it'd be nice to add insult to injury to the people who think they KNOW the 'right' way and play like a baller with my actual marker lol.

I shot this at their booth at ION and while it was fun to shoot I think it is a terrible idea. Once we start adapting paintball guns into more harmful air rifles that can shoot metal bb's and pellets (which this CAN do) we enter into territory that will start it becoming classified as a firearm. I live in NJ and we are already not allowed to buy or own any BB guns. I have a terrible feeling that this could be the end of paintball in NJ.

This looks a bit weird. Pretty much, as I see it, you are sticking a gun into the barrel of a bigger gun... I fail to see the conversion part.

To me this is like sticking TIPX internals in the barrel of an AR15, and calling it a way to convert a real gun into a paintball gun.

This was showcased at Oklahoma DDay, I meant to buy one there but completely forgot once the big game came around. I need to get this as my buddy has some land that he invites many, many people to come out to play airsoft at. Morphfire is really freaking cool and I'm planning on getting one sometime after I get my Reptile.
