Saw a posting of an M2 with "upgraded M3 board"
how would that even work with the M2 having an LPR? along with a completely different bolt system

The Boards are basically the same the only difference is the firmware.

So, yes it will work (and you can also use an M2 board in an M3) but like you predicted you won’t have the LPR Pressure Reading because the M3 doesn’t have an LPR.

I’m not sure if you can just use the different firmware on whatever Marker you are using the Board in, but I think so because ANS and Dye market the new Boards as M2 MOSAir/M3s/M3+ Boards. However, I’d call Dye to make sure.

Is there a way just to update the firmware on the m2, then?

The Updates are on the Dye website. I haven’t tried to use different firmware, but it should work. Maybe try calling Dye to check and make sure it will work?
