Nitro Paintball in Georgia, CLOSING

I am sure many of you have already heard as news has been reverberating. For those that haven't, Nitro Paintball in Georgia is closing. Mario is entertaining a potential Nitro 2.0, but in all reality with the increasing costs of a decent land plat in metro GA this will likely be the end of a incredible run.

Mario is the epitome of a field owner, friend, and advocate for the sport of paintball. Many of you have crossed paths with Mario in one way or another weather it be at his field, Nitro Paintball, or at one of the national events where his conversations and laughs are infectious.

I for one found a home, family, and life-long friends because of Nitro and Mario. Nitro is the primary reason for all the success and growth the Kennesaw State Paintball team had during it's run. I would be willing to bet most, if not all, of the local college teams and local tournament teams would say the same.

The closing of Nitro is sure to put a massive dent in Georgia paintball as it was the PREMIER field in metro GA. There are still great fields in the state of Georgia. However, none with the specific location, diversity, quality of field options, and pricing in the industry. I can confidently say this may well be the end of my playing days as it just won't be the same once Nitro closes, but the selfish side in me hopes Mario strikes a bit of luck and finds a way to keep the name running just a little bit longer.

Either way, so proud of Mario and everything he has accomplished. Proud to have been associated with the Nitro brand and I am forever grateful for all the memories this field has given me. If this ends up being retirement for you Mo, CONGRATULATIONS!

Per Mario's Facebook:

This is a very difficult post for us to write and we have been putting it off in the hopes that we either wouldn't have to write it or at the very least write it later but it's official:
Nitro is Closing!
It came as a bit of a shock when our landlord told us they sold the land to developers- we have been aggressively looking for another location to land but to no avail.
The new owners have given us a lease through the end of October with the good possibility of an extension. With this in mind, we have chosen to announce and declare this as our closing date. However, if we get an extension we will remain open a little longer.
As we write this, so many GREAT memories come to mind. We have made countless wonderful friends. We have had the privilege of watching many of you start out at Nitro as little kids, then go on to college and careers, and even meet your special someones. Many have returned with your own children to show them where you used to play. It's been amazing!
We hope that we have given you a love for the sport while maybe growing paintball to a degree, and that we have given you good memories and experiences that will stay with you.
It has been beyond a privilege -- an honor actually!
We have loved it all because of you!
My heart is broken- but we will go out on a high note.
Please try to find some time over the next eight weeks to come out and play or say goodbye. There are so many of you who supported us over the past 20 years and the "thank-you list" is way too long. THANK YOU to our children who worked by our side for so many years, and a very special THANK YOU to all our staff-family over the years who are really the heart of Nitro. We love you guys!

NITRO 2.0 if we find land.

P.S. this is Not covid related.

thats terrible news. unless of course they used <insert unfavorable paintball brand here>

joking aside, paintball fields going out is always unfortunate.

for some its a side gig that is also a immensely draining hobby,
for others its a means to put food on the table, a livelihood.
not one bit less draining, mind you.

either way its a loss to the paintball community. I wish them luck that nitro 2.0 is possible,

though the joke gives me an idea,

a paintball brand called "what sport are we playing?"

these arent just paintballs. these are....
footballs,
golf balls (dimples, so many!)
frisbies
oops who put a marble in there?
balls so broken it makes tempered glass sheets after impact look like pristine panes.

Same, I found nitro when I moved to Atlanta in 2017. I always used work as an excuse and regret not spending more time there. See ya'll for the farewell in October!

Nitro Paintball isn't dying. Not the same "fate". Please don't mis- construe the rumors. Nitro Paintball & all of the likes will continue.

Mario is the best field owner in GA. They are still looking for land - stay positive regarding Nitro.

Paintball News Rules
  1. No Upping threads. If you have something to say, please do, but don't post in the thread just to take it to the top of the forum.
  2. Do not post "1st post", "1st", "First post" or anything similar (or with any other number) at any point in a thread, even if you post a comment too. It is really annoying and it will result in a ban.
  3. If you don't like something, say why instead of just calling it ugly, lame, gay or any other name. If it is old, simply post a link or report the post with a link to the older News thread.
  4. Please don't post links for places to buy items. That encourages stores, sponsored players and other people to do it and spam the site.
If you have questions, please post them in the Talk to Mods/Admins forum.
