I really like the PM7 & PM8. Those were great guns.

the PM8 holds a special place in my heart for some reason, this will be the 4th one ive owned, maybe its that funky cutout up front, or the fact that some pro's preferred them the the DM8, or that the PM8 was actually the death of the DM line to that point. cause there's way more Proto in the DM9.

i also really like taking them apart and fully refurbing them from the lifetime of budget-balling they were most likely subjected to, they really respond well to a thorough cleaning and i know the Matrix spool better than most, so there's nothing that can surprise me

they somehow got the worst version of eyepipes ever designed, and the ribbon eyes still blow, especially when you CAN use wired eyes, theres just no place for them to go, they JUST needed to mill a channel around the noid so the wires could fit.. one extra pass on the machine is all it would have needed..
youd have to pull the noid to change the wires, but you gotta have the frame off for that task anyways, at that point its just 2 more screws

PM7's were really nice too especially with UL frame, not as tall as the PM8 i feel

PM6 and PM7 are my favorite electric markers by far. PM6 just because when I first started playing as a noob with my Spyder, one of my friends who had already been into paintball for a while was using a UL'd PM6 and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I got my own later on of course. Wish I'd kept the one I used to own, but honestly I probably came out better selling it while it was still worth some money. Even with so many new markers on the market, I still feel like the old Proto spool guns are just the coolest. Something about spool valves just gives me a sci-fi futuristic vibe.

and yeah, I'm not a fan of the eye pipe design. Just seems unnecessary. I understand it was to make it easier to clean the eyes, but honestly I'd just turn the eyes off if they ever got dirty and it was fine. Hell, at one point I bought a used DM5 that just did not have eyes in it and used it like that for a whole season. and this was even back before we had super fast hoppers like the Rotor.

I bought a UL'd PM6 that came with a Dye Rotor for $215 on eBay last month, and just a few days ago snagged a PM7 with the original box. Hopefully I can find a UL frame for it, but I doubt it. I'll likely have to buy another PM7 that already has the UL frame if anything.

so, i am impressed with how this guy kept this PM8, looks unused.., the only marks on it are on the feedneck which looks like a Q-lock, but i am unaware of that being a thing, it will do for now.. i home they just swapped out the top part and i can pick up a more fitting clamp

still gonna take it all apart and clean it though.. just cause its nice on the outside doesnt mean anything

I googled it and found the local newscast. So sad about your friends. Years ago, my car broke down on Hwy 126 between I-5 and Ventura. 2 lane with a fog line and 6 inches of pavement past it. Lots of semi trucks. Got my bike out of the back and pedals 10-15 miles to a campground with a phone. (No cell phones) Can't believe I got out alive.

On a positive note, I got to play yesterday. Good group, 20-30 walk-ons, rapid turnaround between games. I was the only pump and got more than a few paintballs on me. Lots of high end electro for a walk on group. I can't believe how many people just want to empty hoppers.

Still the best time ever! Also found they have a pump/mag fed only group the 1st Sunday of each month. I got invited to that by several people. All around great day.

i can't believe it's been over a year since I played. I was beginning to worry.

I'm surprised they let guys shoot so fast with renters around. There were more private groups that stayed separate, but there were a lot of kids mixed in with us. It was nice to see a few dads playing with their 8 and 9 year olds.

I just found out there's a field in PA close enough to me that has magfed + pump only games. I might check it out if they still have them next year.

https://crusaderpaintball.com/walk-i...gfedpaintball/

Sounds kinda neat but I hope it's not too heavy into the milsim/scenario stuff. I'd still rather play normal paintball with a pump and be outgunned than play pump with magfed people who are too crazy about "realism".

I did feel bad for one of the guys friends....he threw them in to a stock class game for the first time playing in at least 5 years and I kept shooting him in the head.
