I recently bought an A1, it was sold as not working and it looks like the biggest issue is the mini reg, most of the orings where goo but I've also come to find that the shim stack is completely MIA.
Now if i've got some leftover shims from an old 3k tank reg and they fit, any reason not to use them? I know the pitch and return strength might be different but if its adjusted correctly it shouldnt make a big difference righT?

Get a set of stock shims. Those regs are not something to mess with.

You could theoretically use another spring in the mini-reg, but I wouldn't put it on the gun until you've tested the output pressure with a gauge. If you haven't got a dummy ASA with a gauge to check the pressure, just hold out until you can find a rebuild kit or replacement. Check the Angel Owners | OG Facebook group

This is the best long term solution since the reg seats in the cartridge are nearly impossible to replace. Meaning the stock reg will still die eventually anyway. Locating shims and replacing them may still not yield a working regulator long term.

You can still purchase the standard verticle asa adaptor to convert to standard regulators online here and there. Then you can slap any regulator you want on the gun and be happy forever.
