With the upswing in paintball these days, and the revival of Mech play. Paintball is in the best place it’s been in years, and I really think they could start over with a small run decent marker.
They were so close with the A1, make it hoseless, get rid of the eye cover thing, and cocker or luxe threads, serviceable ram.
I was curious why no one is doing anything with this name yet.

Counterpoint - the A1 is an awful marker almost all around. The trigger is pretty good though. I say that as someone so has been struggling to get an A1 working for months.

But the SB (the A1 platform optimized) isn't.
That's where they could start.

I agree, every SB I've owned and sold, I regret.

Production was moved back to the UK from China, so tolerances and variance improved considerably, especially where the ram and valve were concerned. Doing away with the rotobreech eliminated the bolt stick issues (although it's an odd system). It came with a user-upgradeable board.
By the time it shut down, the only IP held within the WDP, Ltd structure was one patent related to the Magno valve. The registered trademarks and the rest of the patents and intellectual property were all transferred to the Green bros individually before WDP was wound down. If you wanted to inquire about licensing, Ged Green would probably be the man to speak to.

I believe you can find him on LinkedIn, or if you contact NPF Bassetts Pole they can probably put you in touch.

Good luck with this.
There have been a number of tries to revive APS by individuals who could make it happen and it hasn't.
From what I understand, they do not want to let go of it and prefer it to be left as it.
Of course, that was all BC (Before Corona) and situations can change.
I am sure that if you were to pile money high enough, that it would change someone's mind, but then it would come down to just how much profit could be made from it.
Eventually the pride and nostalgia and all the good feelings has to come to grips with keeping the lights on and food on the table.

I couldn't imagine they would ever bring the company back to be honest. They would essentially need to develop an entirely new marker platform. There is no way 3tube would be a popular platform style again and I can't imagine Ged is staring at the costs of developing a new marker with much enthusiasm. I look at them like a band with a lead singer who died, and the rest of the band prefers to let the name rest.
To be entirely honest, they were rapidly losing market share as early as 2002/3 when they nearly refused to just put breakbeam eyes in their marker, and by their end almost no one was shooting their markers outside of nostalgia guys. They had a good run, nothing wrong with that, but their own demise will still be forever connected to the wild ambitions they had with the NPPL and the pile of money they burned in that series over the years.

I disagree that they were loosing market share, Angles were always the Ferrari of the paintball scene. Even in 2012 you could see and LCD at the field and people would be talking about "That guy has and Angel" I cant remember a time I played that somebody didnt ask me about my gun when I was playing with one of my guns. They were always expensive and out of reach for most people and I feel like that added to the lore of the guns just like luxury vehicles.

@Rich3k - Hells yeah. I was always a Cocker and Matrix guy even when I was sponsored by BL, but I always loved seeing Angels fielded.

A1 issues

I rebuilt one a while back. Here is what you need to do:
1. Get a rebuildable ram from east coast angel, you can find them on facebook or even on here most likely. Without a good ram, the bolt won't line up properly. The stock ones will work......but the trap door will never stay closed and it will cause other issues as well because the stock ones are all worn.
2. You MUST have an LPR tester.......you can't use the manual as a guide for how many shims are needed. The manual is wrong, the shims are inconsistent.......so you just have to add or remove as many shims as you need to get about 55-60 psi consistently at the LPR. Set it then fire a bunch of shots to let everything settle in. Pressures can change a bit once everything settles.
3. Adjust the dwell to the proper setting. I think 12-15ms is where it should be assuming my memory is intact(don't assume lol)? A lot of people mess with the dwell time and screw it up.
4. Some people have problems with the cartridge reg, I never did. You WILL need to run a LP tank on the cartridge reg unless you do the shim mod. If you don't the gun will be a cannon. If your A1 has the standard HPR adaptor results may vary.
5. Always keep the board set for medium to most fragile paint. Anything else is a ball breaking fest in my experience. Not enough eye delay time on faster settings.
6. A lot of the tiny pison orings in the regulators have gone bad over time. They're a non standard size to buy a few online and be sure to change them all out to prevent creep. These guns are old! Original orings won't cut it.
7. Make sure your regulator seats in the regs are not too wonky. Replacements aren't easy to find. If you do find some buy extras to have on hand.
