I shot the mech CS2 this weekend in a tournament this weekend for the first time. But it won't be the last time. I absolutely loved it. It didn't break a ball, shot straight and I never once worried about it or thought I needed to shoot faster. Shooting fast was effortless.

I was impressed by the air efficiency. More than once I debated even bothering to refill my tank before a game. It shoots so much more than I ever considered carrying.

My only complaint is that everyone there wanted to shoot it! I don't think a single person was disappointed.

-How would you compare the speed to the SFL, CVO and M170 w/ hair valve/bang switch? Iím pretty sure youíve used all those.
-Does the bolt stay forward when you hold the trigger down?
-Did you personally have to switch the frames from Electro to mech? Is it worth buying the fully assembled frame setup or is it easy enough to swap over the components?
-Can I have it?

I have a 170R and M170R frame

Switching between mech and electro takes way less than 5min. I've done it very quickly, two frame screws, two asa screws and 4 grip screws. The CS2 process is very very similar, faster in fact because of the tooless rear grips. I honestly don't think it's necessary to buy the duplicate ASA/reg/grips just to be able to do a 2 screw switch.

That's not how the Gamma Core works. The reason that system is so ideally-paired with a mechanical actuator is because it's entirely self-timed. The bolt is driven forward sequentially by the chamber and returned by that same chamber pressure (that's always acting rearward on the bolt, ie air spring) once the pressure behind it vents to fire. The system in the CS2 is no different in those respects than the ones in the other Gamma Core markers, which have been around for plenty of time.

True, the switch for the CS2 would seem to involve removing two ASA screws like you were maintaining the reg, and the two grip frame screws.

For me, If I can make it two screw fast and easy while also not taking the chance of scratching the reg stem with needle nose pliers, I'll take that all day. Yes, it may mean a little more money up front, but I think it is worth it to me for the convenience.

As for the second question ... I would imagine the answer is yes .... once it is released. I'll be in line with you, I'm just as excited for this as anyone else is.

1. I think it might be on par with the CVO, which was the fastest modern mech I've shot consistently up until now. I haven't shot the CVO since World Cup though but what I love about it and the CS2 Mech is that you never sit and think during a game "I wish I could just get a little more speed." With both guns it is effortless.

2. No

3. Yes, I switched frames. This is my regular CS2 I use. It just takes a 5 minutes or less and you could do it at the field without issue. There aren't a lot of parts to lose. I can understand people wanting a built one though. It would cut a couple minutes off the time.

4. It would take a lot of P.E.N.I.S. bucks to buy it from me... You'd pretty much have to ruin your own economy.

If that’s the case, I think we might officially have the “answer” to being able to have hot nasty badass speed in a space mech without the drawbacks of the CVO platform.

I’ll admit, my CVO is perfectish and it was hand crafted by Odin Gardner himself (the eldest Gardner brother, Norse God of craftsmanship). My SFL is and will forever be money with every click-clack. BUT the idea of eliminating short stroking and adding increased efficiency tickles my fancy. No significant drop in speed, all the good and none of the bad? I’m going to need one for an official, full length P.E.N.I.S. review.

Time to research to see if P.E.N.I.S can write it off as a business expense since apparently all of our assets can not cover John’s asking price. (If you change your mind, I have DOZENS of stickers and over a hundred dollars worth of misc. loose Allen keys to sweeten the deal)

99% sure that almost every major design or product to come from SP/Smart Parts/GoG/GI Milsim etc was designed by Hans or Daryl. Don't think the Gardners have designed any of the products other than the original barrels

The Gamma Core mechanical markers, including the M170R. It's been around for a while and is superior to the CVO.

Would you say the CS2 Gamma core is not significantly better than the one in the 160/170r?

No, I wouldn't say that. One is not "better" than the other, per se.... Just different. Spool face vs poppet face, along with a little added volume in the GP.

I have a CS2 and a Stealth, I canít tell a significant difference in shot quality between either yet. Theyíre different, but both fantastic.

Iíll just get my hands on both an M170r and the CS2 mech frame.

Yeah I would say the difference is pretty minor between the cores. I think the CS2 is significantly more ergonomic though.
