Clear Spacers

I have a buddy who is a machinist so I went to him with the idea of making clear spacers for the dm3 and here is the result.

Tested and it airs up and cycles. Spacers are made of Polycarbonate as both Rachel from Aardvark and Thermodynamics who previously made some.

I have 51 currently and will be selling them for $20 plus shipping. Looks like a small flat rate box is about $8 and would allow for proper packing to ensure no damage so I'm going to say $28 shipped each currently.

If you are interested in purchasing any let me know. Again, Cost is $28 Shipped.

Interesting. Polycarb was the material Rachel decided against because it shatters when it fails. Lexan was what they used.

I asked Rachel before we started and she said they used polycarb not lexan. Ugh, I was trying to do it right and went to the source. I'll double check on that.

My notes were pretty meticulous when I wrote the articles. Polycarbonate specifically shattered while under her high pressure from her, "device that resembled a high pressure bicycle pump", whereas Lexan developed some spiderweb cracking.

No, I certainly believe that was your notes, I was just going off what she told me and what I was told another maker used to make them previously. Here is the response..https://www.dropbox.com/s/jbape16wip15zgi/Poly.JPG?dl=0

Lexan and polycarbonate are, for the most part, the same material just a slightly different composition at the base level when its melted in the vat.

If I ever get around to putting a lathe in my workshop I would make them. Personally if my sunrise wasn't stolen 5yrs ago I would just make a run of them in carbon fiber, and never deal with it again; but alas, the point of a window cut out is to see into it

From what I have found Lexan is the brand name of polycarbonate. Maybe plexiglass was the one that shattered as it should...

My machinist did another run of these, I have about 50 currently that are ready to ship out this week. With inflation the cost is $50 each shipped. If anyone is interested in any let me know.
