Wow. Sounds like Illinois did them wrong. I am glad they were able to find another location so fast. I guess this will be my first time going to Black Ops paintball.

You're not kidding, on all counts. I checked Google Maps yesterday, it'd be a 17 hour drive one way from home for me, and I'm not of a mind to put myself on an airplane right now. Plus I don't know that I could pack for a paintball event and be sub-50 pounds for a bag.

There's a few other events I'll probably check out within driving range this year, and do as much playing as I can locally. Bummed, though, Living Legends really is our "family reunion".

To further clarify, i live way south of Chicago. The politics of that cesspool destroyed our whole state.

I wasn't planning on Legends in IL this year, for that exact reason. I'll be surprised if Living Legends returns to IL anytime soon. It's a shadow of the former CPX experience anyway.

I thought the LL at Lockport was excellent. This is a big shame... hopefully pbbomb or Legacy will host a "mini big game" that same weekend for the more local guys ...

The State of Illinois wont' allow it right now. They're still waiting of higher vaccinated numbers.

...which is why LL isn't going to be there.

Never go back to IL. The state is a wasteland. Indiana has way better fields.

Why isn't there a game around TN/Nashville area that would at least be 6-8 hours vs 13-16 hours away.

Meh no big loss.

LL was a shadow of itself after cpx closed down. The guys at Lockport did their best but they couldn’t recreate the same magic.

Field size and the parking situation were my major issues.
Sure the field may have been the sameish size in acreage but it is long and skinny, and not so much square like cpx was. It's a great field, but it's just not that great when that many people show up.

I'd say it's a public health decision, rather than a "woke" decision. Believe it or not, a lot of tax dollars go into treating sick folks (at least in rural America, where I work). It's not only Medicare patients - there are a lot of impoverished people who don't pay healthcare bills because they're too broke. Taxpayers foot the bill for these folks too.

I'll be there .

Illinois has done a lot of people wrong. It's a complete cesspool of violence, high taxes, and corruption, and it gets worse by the day.

Chicago is a shell of a once amazing city. It's sad.

Last person to leave, make sure to turn the lights off.

I'm glad they found another field outside of Illinois.

Hey everyone,
I thought I would take a sec and drop in to add to the topic.

So while I'm 100% bias on the subject I agree with a lot of you the no field will ever be the same as CPX Sports park. It was a very special place and we that were able to play there are lucky to have had it.
We went to Hells for a year while Legacy got more prepared to host the event the following year. There are many reasons Legacy was picked with the location for the Chicagoland/ Midwest players as the number one. These players helped us grow the event to one of the most attended events each year. Legacy has some very cool fields and its owners and staff were up for the challenge of hosting the event. 2019 was the first year there and we learned a lot on how the field played and had plans in place that should have improved overall field play for this year. If or when we return we feel players will see improvement over year one there.

The state of IL is what it is. They have some COVID rules that make navigating what you can and can't do difficult. The end result is we needed to make a move to run the event this year. After just running an 800 player event just days before the switch, we knew the field could handle the turnout that LL brings. We do not have a plan in place for 2022 and we looking at all our options. We do not want to leave our Midwest/Great Lakes area players behind and we will do our very best to look out for them as well as what is best for the overall event.

So in the end, we miss CPX Sports too, it was way easier to run an event like this with the "Homefield" advantage but we will work hard each event to bring the spirit of CPX Sports to every CPX Events game. The players deserve it and we want to bring it to them.

We will update 2022 plans for you all when we know and hope that you all can join us at Black ops in Fayetteville, NC for 2021. We understand if you can't but we hope you do.
Hang loose

Regarding IL and COVID restrictions I call BS and hypocrisy. I was in Midway airport (right in Chicago) a couple days ago (3/17). Had to fly to Pittsburgh and then drive home the same day. I got there at about 0730. Let's just say that it was shoulder to shoulder throughout most of the airport. Bars full with people right on top of eachother pounding beers at 0730. Apparently rules/restrictions don't apply in actual Chicago. I'm glad that people were enjoying themselves, and pissed at the state for screwing over so many small business owners and events throughout all this when places like Chicago doesn't even enforce them.

I'm not super paranoid about Covid or anything, but I'll personally be skipping any event that has me packed shoulder to shoulder with people who just traveled from across the country. Sticking to small games at my local field for now, personally.

It's good that the show will go on for those who want to attend though. Plus it means there will be a sick Living Legends video posted for me to watch later, and that's how I normally enjoy this event anyway

While Black Ops is not the field I usually play at, it is only 45 minutes from my home. Happy dance.
