My question is.. What's the line for mech?
To me, the appeal of Mech is that the ROF is slower, the guns have a little more recoil from being mechanical, and it makes for a more enjoyable playing experience. With spacemechs becoming more and more advanced, what's the difference between someone shooting a spacemech vs an electro? Electros you can at least cap the BPS..
It's awesome to watch the advancement, don't get me wrong, but mech tourneys are going to become the same thing as electro tourneys, just minus batteries and BPS caps.
/rant
p.s. I'm aware that there have always been fast mechs prior to spacemechs

They already banned a shocker valve mod that was like an rt automag and I can imagine more stuff will be put on the nono list of we start seeing walkable "single" triggers.

The "speed wars 2.0" for mech started as soon as ten man events started to come back. The GMEK was the first attempt at a faster mech gun and now its considered slow.

Did you think everyone was going to just shoot cockers and mags?

Wait! Sooooooo ... AGD didn’t win back in the day? I feel they were superior paint blenders.

There’s a reason I kept the cottontail end of a cable squeegee attached to the powerfeed on my RT.

That’s a scary memory. The last time I ever shot a mag was a fall classic tournament back in the early 2000s. There was paint coming out of holes in that gun I didn’t even know it had.

I definitely get where you are coming from with the mech discussion. I played a couple of mech events with my cockers which while still competitive, were definitely at a slight disadvantage. The space mechs are also just so much more user friendly a lower stress for a tournament and you can overbore for better paint handling. I still have a few cockers on hand, but I no longer use them at mechanical events (super Emeks and hopefully soon a mech CS2 for me).
That said, even with the space mechs, the mech tournaments are still a lot more fun than playing with ramping which I have never been a huge fan of. I also grew up playing at the end of the mech semi to electro semi transition period so it just feels right/more nostalgic.

I can't wait for the new SP Impulse release with a lever valve and solenoid flow restrictors for the ultimate lack of respect.

I’m sure they are waiting to copy the LV2.

How often do people actually remove their eye/detent covers?

In almost 15 years of tournament play, playing 5-6 events a year, dozens of practices a year, and at least 5 big games a year, I have never once needed to take off my eye covers at any point during the day at the field.
The RD costs that go into making eye covers tool-less to solve a problem that doesn't exist really isn't that appealing to most marker companies still. I never understood why people think they need to be tool-less.

This. I can't even remember the last time I had a chop in the chamber of one of the many guns I owned in the last decade. Even barrel breaks are a very rare occurence for me. This is not 1999 anymore!

Now with all the crap talking about ripping off gamma core (warranted to be fair), how about we now give credit to SP for the innovation of that AMP to mech conversion. If you didn't bother, go check the videos for that one.

The tooless solenoid and milled air pipe are ****ing solid additions to the platform. One screw taking apart nearly the whole gun is slick. Full toolless frames are cool but that hinge and screw look like a solid way to do it.

See I feel different on that. The tool-less solenoid is all for nothing if I still need tools to get the frame off. Not saying it is hard to do but If they would have been able to make the frame tool-less this would arguably be the best gun on the market. To be able to switch my marker at the field in less than a minute with zero tools would have been perfect. It is still a great update though, just wish they would have found a way to make the frame hinge on a tool-less release at the rear.
