Exactly. The update makes sense but come on this was on the players fault for not double checking their settings.

Same thought process as "Caution: Contents are Hot" on coffee cups.

I get it, but still stupid IMO. The gun has an OLED screen that shows this information. Pretty sure a 1-second check by the player would have caught this issue.

Kudos to PE for trying to make the world more idiot proof, but to me, if you are "pro" player, then you should ensure your gear is legal and not rely on the manufacture to do that for you.

He should have called himself out. You can't change settings on the field.

This is how you do PR. Get out in front of the problem, be honest, don't throw blame around, show solution if possible (as in this case) or at least show tangible movement towards solution.

Back in the day, we all had to make sure of what mode we were for what tournament we were playing in each weekend, it was also up to us to make sure what our rates of fire were in check to. Lots of people screwed up and got penalties which made for interesting turns of events. We also did this with old boards that either blinked random colors or beeped. Now with all the screens on every high end marker there is no excuse for this really and I donít think it needed to be fixed. Leave some responsibility in the players hand.

Just saying.

So funny that legit non ramping semi is malicious nowdays. Crazy. A capped firing mode for base line makes sense. Good call

Why not just ship all flagship Eclipse markers set to NXL legal ramping out of the box? Still such a prompt response shows that Eclipse has a lot of class. This is a good look

That would be the logical solution. Unfortunately, lawyers. There are liability concerns with shipping markers in an "enhance" firing mode.

It happened to the team I coach and to infamous. I was around both times, not a single person on either team blamed PE.

Correct, I was more saying the players weren't relying on the techs and at least one realized something wasn't right and didn't just blaze on then blame PE.

Also because there are a lot of other markets than US-NXL Players.
I would go as far as to wager that the majority of PE-Customers won’t ever step onto an NXL Field in the US.
I think this is the most efficient Solution for everyone concerned. Thumbs up for PE.

These guys are supposed to be professionals but can’t even check to make sure their marker’s are on the correct settings?

This is definitely the player’s fault!

No excuse for this at a professional level no matter how it happened...

It would have to be just a few button presses to get it into NXL mode from the new default mode. Always has been the first thing i did to ANY PE gun was set it and forget it (and lock it before tournaments).

TBH this is almost WHOLLY the fault of the marker owner. I know i may be tooting my own horn, but in the military, when you are issued a weapon, you are responsible for its maintenance, operation, and disposition.

As with anything that can put your eye out, you have to be responsible and take responsibility for your stuff. Jack Wood and the boys at Planet Eclipse are just taking the extra step as product manufacturers to make sure that doesn't happen to anyone else, as rare as an occurrence as this was. I feel like two different players just forgot to change their modes out after they changed their batteries. LOL

So "Positive Control" is the word of the day here.

Very much a great team player. Thanks for getting ahead of this. I didn't expect this level of overlook from professionals.
