Maybe if you play outlaw or a field that is BYOP (few and far between). For FOP fields and events, .50 will never fly.

Big thanks to the OP for writing this. Having only just heard about the possibility of .50 cal paintballs becoming more popular, I didn't really know what was going on. You've really shed light on the subject.
