Omara used his silver/red LV1 the first point but not the second, what happened there if you don't mind me asking.
I just think he pulled the revo cs2 straight out of the box for the first time that second point and probably never even turned it on before going on the field which was why it was in the stock mode. Unfortunate for sure and was super relieved that you guys were able to win both your matches that day despite the handicap.

I don't know what happened to his LV1 to be honest, as far as grabbing a new gun we don't know if it hadn't been changed or had an issue. Ultimately it is completely up to us to make sure which mode it is in. It was our fault but we have a great team and great sponsors to help us pull out the wins we did for the Vegas event.

I wouldn't say that for certain, the one guy(not Omara) was interviewed with Lauren Kelly and pretty explicitly blamed PE for what was his own **** up. Like almost immediately threw his sponsor under the bus to try and defend his own mis-actions.
As the legend himself Rodney Squires said on the last page, blame the dummy for not wondering what was up prior to the match. Almost every person I have every played with test shoots the marker at the start gate and the crono. Did no one think, "Hey, hold up, wait a minute, something aint right here"

This is definitely the player’s fault!
No excuse for this at a professional level no matter how it happened...

Because all pros are perfect, at all moments
And we've been there before (I can only imagine), you have a hot or malfunctioning marker and you are given another setup from the pits. Is it not hard to imagine that some of these spare setups might have slipped through the cracks and have not been checked for correct mode (but have been checked for under 300fps)?
Edit:
So basically it's a failure on the teams' behalf, but **** happens and penalties were given. Eclipse while not really thier fault have put mitigations in place to try to prevent future incidents of this nature.
Also, yes pros should be able to recognize if thier marker isn't kicking into ramp or firing at a significantly different rate of fire. But not everyone is perfect always so....

We're paintball players, if we were any smarter we'd be doing something else.

I hear that those mech frames they make do a preeeeeety good job at eliminating ramping, as well.

But they don't solve the problem of being the LV2.

I find life kind of odd that some people have the money to buy other people to do things for them and being completely clueless as to how anything works. Sometimes having a ton of money will make you happy, but may diminish the ability to understand certain aspects of your hobby entirely.
Example being a middle class person buying a cheap motorcycle and a service manual. While fixing it up and upgrading it, they understand the foundations of how a motorcycle works. Whereas someone who has the money to buy a new motorcycle outright just rides the thing.
Having money may diminish practical personal skills if shortcuts are taken.

I don't know if this was the case with these issues, but this is definitely a true statement. I have met quite a few players with high end markers that don't even know how to perform basic maintenance on them. It's sad to see that someone could pump that kind of money into something and not invest the 10-15 minutes required to learn how to take care of it (especially when you know there are others out there who would die to own and take care of it). Unfortunately it is a pretty common reality these days.
I think the fact that these guns are so user-friendly and reliable these days is also part of this issue. The older players grew up having to have at least some basic knowledge of how to diagnose and fix things because the equipment simply wasn't that reliable. Victims of our own progress I suppose. Planet Eclipse is awesome enough to continue to protect the player while the simpler answer is to just say "check your gun, bud!"

The tech's in the pits are provided by the manufacturers, to give their teams the opportunity to focus 100% on playing. The technical/ mechanical knowledge level varies from player to player.

Is it theoretically possible that someone could hack into the board using bluetooth and switch the modes?
I imagine that is 100% not possible but it crossed my mind. I could see how some hacker could do that to cost a team a penalty. Again, I doubt it is possible but figured I would mention it.
I think it is a great idea having the default being semi capped at 10 bps. That makes perfect sense.
