A wooded quarry a couple blocks from my house. $20 boxes of 200 round california magnum paintballs and about 10, 12 grams each - lasted us all day. Didn't know what velocity of a paintball gun was, and never saw or heard of a chrono. Assuming now that some of our guns probably shot over 300fps on fresh 12 grams for the first few shots
In high school we had a group of kids that all had Paintball Markers so we would meet up one day on the weekends to play in the local woods. We’d have our CO2 tanks filled and our Paint from Wally World lol. Running around the woods shooting each other with Spyders mainly. One set of woods we left natural and I built some bunkers in another set of woods. So we basically had two different outlaw fields to play at.

The Paintball Bunker or just "The Bunker" in Winter Garden FL maaaaybe 93'. They had one field, rented Tippmann Pro-lites and SL-68's. Where it all began for me. Went on to play a lot at OP, renegade woodsball in Ocoee, was a Ref at Paintball World off I-4 for a few years.
I first played at a field in Sugar Land Texas outside of Houston in 1996. Played there regularly for 4-5 years. Field is still there but under a different name now. It’s probably changed names 3-4 times since I last played around 2000 or so. My son actually just played for the first time last weekend at a birthday party, at a different field. But it inspired me to dig out my old Automag and order some parts to rebuild.
I was brought in to the hobby by my dad. He started playing in the late 80s. He brought me into it when I was in 5th grade. We played on property we own. Then the following year we he started taking me to paint ball fields. First one I went to opened up across the street from our property we would literally just walk across the street and play. After a couple years that field got shut down by the county for operating without a permit. We then started going to other fields that were pretty far away from us but it was always an adventure. I played heavily from around 98 to 2005. By that time I was pretty burned out on the sport. Things were changing at a rapid pace and I wasn’t feeling good about the way things were changing so I put all my stuff in a tote and there it sat till yesterday. This past week I have been thinking about all the good times I had with my dad and my group of friends playing. This itch lead me to pull out all my stuff which I am now in the process of cleaning up and getting running. I heard my old field is still open and running so I will be making the trek out there once I get my guns working smoothly.
I still have my 91 Autococker that Has been with me all these years through a ton of adventures. It still has the yellow tape ( team color) from the last game I played in tied around it. So many good memories. We played at paint ball jungle , Sherwood Forrest ( both in Vallejo) and another place called diablo ( concord area ). It was all woods ball this was before air and speed ball.

First time ever playing was out on some foggy Delta islands between Tracy & Stockton CA. Me with my12 gram Sheridan against players with Tippmann Pro-lite markers equipped with 20 ounce Co2 tanks. Needless to say I got owned. The tides changed by 1991 once I purchased my Line SI PRO-Master Semi Auto. Straightest shooting mech I ever owned!!! Then we began playing in Lathrop at an abandoned Ammo Depot and under the Ripon and Lathrop HWY 99 & I5 bridges. Then Action Paintball Games aka APG out in Ione, CA.

Reason: more to add
I don't recall the name of the first field I played at, I was pretty young but I think it had something to to with "jungle"? Once I was going more I was playing a lot at SC Village in So. CAL. they are still going strong it looks like, but I got sick of the types of players that were frequenting that field to many fights, kinda wrecked the games. So I found the Lions Den, it became our home field, at their first location and there second location. Never did get one of pumpkin patches from Pumpkin though.
